The above poster isnt really correct. We have an actual saying that is the literal translation: "Der Apfel fällt nicht weit vom Stamm ". And it means exactly what you suggest, a child being very much like one of their parents in one way or another.

We have more cultures, languages, and national identities clustered in Europe than anywhere else in the world. Naturally people want an instance for their own.
Okay this isnt a movie but a show, but arrested development (especially the early seasons) are filled with situations, puns, innuendos and jokes that are set up over several episodes, sometimes even seasons. It is impossible to catch and appreciate them all on first watch. I have seen the show probably a half dozen times over the years and i still stumble over the occasional thing i missed.
I love them because i am not being rushed, i can pack my groceries up in peace and properly stacked in the bag. Meanwhile at a normal checkout a bored cashier routinely scans my 30 items in less than 10 seconds, leaving me struggling to pay, and pack up my shit while a dozen people are waiting in line behind me.
Obvious next question: do you believe any of that would change for the better under trump?

Couldn’t you compromise and take a shower in the morning instead? Certainly a lot less water used than drawing a whole bathtub. Also it’s quicker to do when in a hurry. (Though I would probably skip the first shower if I’m just going to go work out and shower again right afterwards anyway)

Yeah but that’s a somewhat sensitive topic. Asking for the region of origin might mean the same thing in practice, but asking someone what “breed” they are is very inappropriate.
As far as i know the actual reason for doing this is to know with certainty if they took it or not. This is important for complications such as allergies or over/underdosing medication because you can’t be sure what and how much is in their system right now.
In short, get over yourself and watch them take their meds. It’s not because they are children, but because you need reliable certainty to treat them further without additional risk.

I don’t know what show or year even, but when I was a kid I remember some weird sci fi show or movie with people being on a sort of sentient organic space ship, and the toilets were literally this. Living things that would feast on human waste, iirc including going the extra mile of having tongues to lick the user clean.
