  • My company recently switched out all of it’s older Dell for newer ones that are capable of running Win11 (because existence is pain). As a result, I now have three Dell micro PCs two of which are on DDR4, one is DDR3. All of which cost me nothing.

I’ve already put Proxmox and OpenWRT on one and shitcanned the crappy Linksys my ISP gave me, and am about to put another into service as my home server. The third one has yet to reveal its use to me, but it’ll come.

I currently have eight computers of various specs, sizes and configurations, and am happy to rehouse a bunch more.

  • You seem to be a similar age to me, so have a similar response to my own.

But to add to your answer; for me in my younger years, it was primarily the fear of being othered by my peers. Being gay was seen as the worst thing a man could be, ergo, being seen as gay by my peers would have been the worst thing. So I’d overcorrect with homophobia.

In our defence (my peers and I, I mean), we were also in the midst of the AIDS crisis, where the news would keep bringing us stories of how many gay men were dying because they were having sex with each other. That’s legitimately scary when you’re young, just beginning to understand what sex is, and that you like the idea of it.

But in the interim I’ve grown up and moved into a mental space where I’m less of a prick.

For the past couple of years I’ve marched in the two pride marches local to me as a fully paid up supported of the LGBTQ+ community, not least because these days I don’t really consider myself to be straight anyway. I’m just a bloke-shaped person who likes to experience sex with other people, regardless of their junk.

  • Being unaware of pinchflat, I kinda ended up making my own.

Started off with a little app, the entirety of which was a button that, when pressed, took the link om my clipboard and downloaded the video into my Jellyfin folder. Then I got tired of having to keep it all updated across several different computers I use, so I turned it into something that runs in a docker container on my home server, that I can access through anything in my tailnet. Works beautifully.

  • This is the result of dmidecode

    root@OpenWrt:~# dmidecode -t slot
    # dmidecode 3.5
    Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
    SMBIOS 3.1.1 present.

As far as I can tell, the top one is the M.2 in question, so it’s a 4 channel PCIe slot. Running -t connector doesn’t show that slot at all, presumably because it’s not got anything connected to it currently.

I’ve order a cheap(ish) adapter that should arrive today, so I’ll bung it in and report back.
