  • A lot of it is just “flail wildly and hope nobody stops you”

Bush v Gore was won when a bunch of campaign flaks simply stormed an office on Miami-Dade and intimidated the staff into halting the recount.

Like, that wasn’t a good plan on it’s face. And it failed to win in state court. And it didn’t even halt recounts statewide. But it did get the case up to a stacked court, where a majority of Republican SC judges could simply annoint Bush the winner.

Similarly, Ohio in 2004 was decided thanks to a rigged recount process. But because the case dragged out into 2007… what was anyone going to do about it? Bush wasn’t going to stop being president halfway through his second term.

As often as not, these elections turn on what people can get away with. They aren’t decided by genius plots by brilliant strategists so much as shameless acts of political vandalism that go uncontested.

  • If nobody does anything, it shows the constitution is worthless.

What if some people do some things, but they’re mostly perfunctory or performative and done more as a means of fund raising off gullible rubes than obstructing a tyrannical state government?

What if other people do things, but are immediately categorized as lawless radicals and foreign-sponsored insurgents who want the country to fail?

What if still other people do things, but they are in support of the tyrannical administration - either explicitly through armed support or implicitly through financing and propagandizing in defense of the state?

What if a large body of people don’t know what to do or who to align with, because so many different high profile people with different motivations and ideologies all claim they are Constitutional supporters acting in opposition to anti-Constitutional tyrants?

  • Baby boomers are collecting 265% of what they paid into Social Security

A median-wage worker retiring in 2027 can expect about $730,000 in lifetime Social Security benefits, compared with less than $200,000 paid in taxes by that worker and their employer combined

Adjusting the $200k for inflation, that’s around $800k.

If anything, SS recipients should be getting back more than $730k. That’s deferred consumption which was recycled through public spending into increased domestic growth. Growth that the vast majority of these workers never got to see, as their salaries fell behind the inflation rate.

But ask the editors of Fortune Magazine what they think of uncapping the Social Security tax, so it applies to people making more than $180k/year. Ask them how they feel about paying for SS directly out of the General Fund, rather than getting a special Poor Tax that can’t be exempted through deductions and credits. Ask them how they feel about paying for SS out of an Equities Transaction Tax, such that trillionaires issuing the next round of IPOs take responsibility for the millions of senior citizens who they are brain-fucking with AI slop on a daily basis.

Social Security is the promise this country (kinda-sorta) makes to its elderly. If you worked your whole life, you won’t be impoverished the day your employer doesn’t consider you a value-add anymore. The taxation scheme for SS is fucked, but only because it taxes labor income rather than labor value. We’ve seen the gross wealth in this country rise from $2.2T to $167T between 1960 and 2027. And you’re telling me we’re running out of money to pay our retirees?

Fuck off. Anyone should be able to see through this bullshit.
