Is he trying to destroy democracy and anoint himself king? No?

That makes him the overwhelmingly best choice for president.

It’s not even close, by any metric.

That makes him the overwhelmingly best choice for president

It makes him a better choice than trump…

But the majority of voters don’t believe that

So why shouldn’t we raise our standards to win the election? Literally 100s of millions of Americans are also better than trump it ain’t a small club bub.

Because a change at this point would be almoost impossible. And any lead that the democrats may have will be put in jepordy by a change. While I agree with the concept, not isn’t the time to become divided

          How?

The candidate literally hasn’t been named yet?

And any lead that the democrats may have will be put in jepordy by a change.

          Lead?

          What lead?

trump is fucking winning in polls because Biden’s approval rating was down to like 34% last I checked.

We can’t afford to keep Biden.

There has been no statement that he was not running for re election. If there was one at this point it would hurt the chances of the democrats winning.

I suppose it depends on what polls you are listening to. But I also said “may have” to hopefully avoid this discussion because it is to early to really trust any polls.

But this is all just my opinion and not fact. I’m not looking to get into a political debate with a random on lemmy. Have a great day!

Whitmere has a smaller difference than Biden does…

She hasn’t been running a campaign or been backed by the DNC?

Why would she suddenly do worse with those things?

But this is all just my opinion and not fact.

It is your opinion, the issue is to get to it you’re ignoring facts …

I’m not looking to get into a political debate

              So…

You just want to proclaim your opinions and not have anyone explain why you’re wrong?

You could just stop commenting on politics, that would help with avoiding political debates

My apologies, I’m just trying to get some comments on your post to try getting it to hot so you can be seen and have conversations with people with more insight and facts.

Everyone has an opinion, and you have done nothing to change mine with this gossip article and presenting no facts. “Biden’s old shouldn’t run” got it, not really a deep insight into the political policy of the US.

I’m not ignoring the facts, you just are not presenting anything new or noteworthy.

Whitmer vs trump 36/40 Biden vs trump 40/40

Good luck, not everything is a debate or argument sometimes we just want conversation.

Could’ve sworn you said you didn’t want a political debate?

Is this one of those things where you always have to reply?

And your link is just Biden v trump head to head?

                  What’s going on here?

He is often sharp and focused. But he also has moments, particularly later in the evening, when his thoughts seem jumbled and he trails off mid-sentence or seems confused. Sometimes he doesn’t grasp the finer points of policy details. He occasionally forgets people’s names, stares blankly and moves slowly around the room.

Biden’s occasional struggles with focus may not be unusual for someone his age. But at 81 years old and seeking another four years in the White House, the moments when he’s off his game have taken on a fresh resonance following his disastrous debate performance against Republican Donald Trump. The president appeared pale, gave nonsensical answers, stared blankly and lost his train of thought.

We’re not asking if grandpa can live on his own till or needs to move to a retirement home…

We’re asking if Biden is up to 4 more years of literally the most stressful job in the country. One that has no set working hours and you might have to react to an international incident past 7pm.

Yes. trump is obviously worse, not just because of his age, but because he’s a total psychopath.

Which is why it’s so important he’s not president.

And why sooooooo many Dem voters want a better candidate against him.

Feel free to go demand trump steps down, it’ll be great if he did but he’ll never listen.

Biden is supposed to be better tho, he’s supposed to be trying to help the country, not just personally become president. And right now the best thing Biden can do is stand down.

Would have been a shitton better if he said he wasn’t running a year ago, but he didn’t.

That doesn’t mean people have to stop saying damn near every metric and data point available shows Biden won’t be able to beat Trump.

If it feels too late now, imagine how it’s going to feel in a month at the convention.

        Edit:

        Be careful though

The main reason to vote Biden is to stop trump, if you get rid of trump, there goes Biden’s entire campaign and the replacement Republican will definitely win if it’s still Biden.

Unlike Trump he actually generally surrounds himself with competent people. Trump’s lackeys want to dismantle the entire government apparatus and fire everybody day 1. The chaos and issues that would ensue are far worse than Biden being foggy some days surrounded (largely) by capable, effective government officials who actually know what they’re doing.

So who are you suggesting we replace him with that is currently running, and capable of defeating Trump?

EDIT: [14 hours later] …. I thought so.

If we are dead set on running Biden, then I would like to remove Harris from the ballot. A vote for Biden is essentially a vote for Kamala to be president at this point.

I know that will never happen but I really don’t like her.

Hahaha, I love a title that’s guaranteed to piss off everyone.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden’s conduct behind closed doors, in the Oval Office, on Air Force One and in meetings around the world is described in the same dual way by those who regularly see him in action.

They’ve reduced his use of a long staircase to board Air Force One in favor of a shorter one, and aides often accompany him when he walks in public to make his stiff gait less noticeable.

While his schedule remains busy, aides have built-in recovery stretches — long weekends or extended stays in Delaware at his Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach homes or at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland — to rest up after a grueling period of travel.

So far only two active members of Congress have called for him to step aside, but there is growing anxiety on Capitol Hill about his ability to do the job and many are anxiously awaiting post-debate polling and waiting to see how he handles his Friday interview on ABC.

Really, only Biden’s personal physician can answer questions about the president’s cognitive fitness — and given the level of public concern, he should do so, said well-known aging researcher S. Jay Olshansky of the University of Illinois at Chicago.

One bad appearance on TV isn’t enough to assess anyone’s cognitive ability, Olshansky stressed, “even for those of us that study aging for a living.” Without more insight, there’s no way to know if the jet lag Biden has cited, or other factors, explain the performance, he said.
