Feel a little bad for this guy. He came forward of his own volition, because they came to him under false pretenses (or perhaps just weren’t explicit).

My guess is he suspected something stupid would come of it, if anything, not voter suppression. Plus $150 for 20min work is a great deal for something you don’t expect to be used illegally.

“The only thing missing from the political circus is a magician and here I am,” said Carpenter, who also hosts a podcast, has created mentalism instructional videos and says has [sic] performed in 24 countries.

But before you go and start following this guy, be warned that he’s a right-wing conspiracy theorist (e.g. moon landing “problems,” deep state, etc.). It’s ironic that a person so versed in deception and trickery would fall for some of the oldest grifts in history, but being an expert in misdirection doesn’t mean he’s a skeptic, after all.

“ Carpenter — who holds world records in fork-bending and straitjacket escapes, but has no fixed address “

I can see why he was picked given his relevant credentials.

“Step into my office”. Gestures at a row of large boxes behind Wendy’s. “Yes, the one surrounded by bent forks.”
