Donald Trump’s lieutenants are cutting dozens of staff in a cost-cutting move that further cements the former president’s takeover of the GOP’s political and fundraising machinery.
I’m curious to see if they can properly fund the convention this year. The 2016 RNC was around $65M, and by current reporting, they don’t have enough in the bank to cover the inflation on that figure. Certainly, some money must have been already spent, so it’s not like they need the entire figure right now, but they do still need a lot of it. Maybe they can get a loan and make it work, but that only drags down funding other things even more.
