There was th Civil War and white folk got to pretend shit was settled while back folk knew better. Took until the 60s for things to start to shake up and even then White’s weren’t sure they should support something like requiring equal treatment.
Then we got the Voting Rights Act Then SCOTUS, in recent years, decided we didn’t need that anymore. People are legitimately surprise the Court decided this way. Recent rulings have been a constant erosion.
All systems require a check on greed and something that pulls things back to balanced. What we have (in the US) right now isn’t it.
SCOTUS has not helped in the least.
We need incentives for participation because “the feels” isn’t enough to motivate most to work all that much. But we need taxes and laws to keep things from skewing like they have.
With the country built into the community name. Less confusion and wasted energy that way.
I think getting actionable advice was the point of the thread.
Editorials are often seen as disrespectful and dont get the engagement you’d hope (this isn’t a news community).
The guy who won “over a billion” (that’s not what he got to keep) has headlines with his full name, what real estate he’s bought, lawsuits brought against him and he’s had to get body guards.
Because california forces a person to claim it and anonymity isn’t allowed.
It’s only returning to normal if normal people keep informing themselves (with truth) and voting.
Otherwise the extreme right will put this whole thing in peril again as quickly as they can.

Grieve. Be kind to yourself, be kind to them. Allow yourself to feel without resisting the feelings. But don’t chase them either.
There isn’t a right way to feel for most of this.
Part of grieving is reflection (usually). Remembering good times, bad times and wish-they-were-different times. Find a way to be with those moments and accept them as they are: moments. They aren’t lost, just future ones will be different.
And that’s okay. Or it will be. And you’ll be okay, too.
I ruminate too. I tell myself it helps me learn, helps me grow, helps me remember not to “x”. It rarely helps. It’s just a conditioned response that makes me feel more control while i actually lose some.
What truly helps is healing. Learning that sometimes compatability isn’t a you tho Ing or a them thing. But it’s still a thing and somebody called the spade a spade.
If you weren’t up to your standards, then rise. Otherwise, coat yourself in patience. Listen to YouTube videos like Tara Brach. Be honest with yourself as you heal. We all have barbs, we all have scars.
I like all this and I’ll add that for those who choose to participate, there is more than enough. For those who opt out, there is no lack.
But numbing oneself isn’t a passtime.
And all are treated with respect and freedom for all is a primary principle.

You continue to assert I, or others, are saying things we are not. I have not alleged that the EU is lacking or “wanting.”
I’m saying the US is far more diverse than is often credited. People are moving from one state to another because of that very reason. It is a confederation of states, by law. And our SCOTUS is making that more true each year.
I am not saying “parity” but I am saying it’s far closer than your broad brush comments.

If I drive 45 minutes east, I’m in something akin to the US south. Extremely conservative in specific ways. North a few hours and everyone distrusts anyone who didn’t grow up there.
45 minutes west and I’m in everyone’s favorite (not) failed city, San Francisco.
And those very conservative places I mentioned… are quite different from south conservative. They drive the same vehicles, wear the same hats, but don’t hold the same values.
California, for all its notoriety as being overly accepting has known pla es POC are advised against visiting. Some areas are very non-church and others are profoundly Christian or other religions.
We have enclaves of near-pure ethnic/cultural people tracing back to wherever. I’m not simply talking about Chinatown or Japan town.
We’re not a monolith even within a small area. I didn’t assert that the EU was. Only that we are more diverse than credited.
Particularly when the topic arises by people comfortable talking others how to be when they know nothing of the person or people.
I am learning those things… hell, I’m studying a completely different language and learning the history.
I think I’m not who you think I am.

I’m not sure that evolution cares one wit about any of our theories. If it means I’m the dad and I’m the dad more often… then it will be favored.
If I enjoy it more, she enjoys it more or it means that my sperm have increased likelihood of winning… that’s all that matters.
And when I say “or” above, it can include any of those things. It need not be exclusive.
