In the USA I’ve never been to a restaurant that didn’t have salt on the table. Do you mind if I ask where you live?
I wonder what aspect of cultural differences are responsible with that, thats genuinely super interesting to me
Pepper is best when fresh, and its an easy way for them to provide an experience for diners where they feel like someone is giving them special care when it comes to their food, if that makes sense. Salt makes no difference freshly ground. Also, at least in the USA, generally no one will be insulted if you ask for salt; is that an experience you have often? And do you have to ask for salt often? Anywhere I eat they just have salt shakers available, it seems odd to me that they’d make people ask
I don’t mind a little bit of simplification, as the previous logo had a lot of little granular details that arent going to be as legible at different scales, but I’m not sure I’m entirely in love with the execution here. I like that they kept the nodes offset as opposed to the previous version for smaller scale applications, but the point where the left node originates from is too close to the base of the house, putting too many corners in close proximity for them to read clearly enough as separate corners and for them to not just merge into a bit of an organic wiggle if you’re not looking close enough.
I don’t hate it though, and I think overall its a decent improvement in some respects. But I think the old one had more character, and was a bit better executed, even if it didn’t works as well at all scales
The post on pixelfed has it next to his hand, and says its a 5.5 inch blade. Without visual context I assumed it was like an 8 inch standard chefs knife
I love the tone of the wood!
Edit: just saw how small it is on pixelfed- its adorable! Seems like a nice versatile size. Easy to clean and handle, and good for a lot of basic tasks
Thats genuinely fascinating! I love hearing about that kinda stuff, its always really neat to hear the life experience that folks get and how it differs in different cultures.
If you were to ask for a salt shaker, do you feel like it would be offensive to the folks working there, or preparing your food?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge of another culture with me ☺️
