I’ve never watched live streams before TheRunningManZ started multistreaming on YouTube aswell. I don’t really care about other streamers (except maybe SourSweet) nor am I interested in games other than DayZ either.

My first computer is like 17 years old and it’s still in daily use. It is a custom build gaming rig that I paid like 1k€ for back in the day. It has since been upgraded with more RAM, SSD, and has a brand new GPU aswell. I may need to invest in a new CPU soon too as my core2quad is really starting to show it’s age now. The main issue however is the RAM as it only supports DDR2 and finding compatible 4Gb sticks was really hard and out of the 4 one seems to be faulty and makes it crash so I only have 3 of them in use. After I upgrade the motherboard aswell I don’t consider it the same computer anymore as it has almost none of the original parts.

The thing with our current hypersonic missiles is that they’re only hypersonic during the transit. They don’t hit the target at hypersonic speeds. Traveling at those speeds creates plasma around the missile which prevents communication with airplanes, satellites or ground based radars. You also have to be high up in the atmosphere where air is thin or otherwise your missile is going to turn into a fireball way before it reaches the target. This is what also prevents you from attaching a seeker into the front of the missile; that would melt aswell.

This is why Ukraine has shot down Russian “hypersonic missiles” with the US patriot system even though that should be impossible. It is impossible while the missile is still hypersonic but that’s not when you intercept it. You wait for it to get closer and slow down first. That’s why Kinzhal doesn’t really count as a hypersonic weapon or if it does then so does the German V-2 from the 40’s.

Sure but we don’t need to create compartmentalized echo chamber for every group. Those individuals are free to express their views and opinions as the members of more general instances aswell.

Not a fan of any of the idealistic instances and beehaw is not an exception. If there was some good communities then someone is just going to recreate those on a different instance.

I don’t agree with the premise. The world on average is better than it has ever been and it just keeps getting better every year. It’s understandable that heavy consumption of news might make it seem otherwise but virtually every metric you’d use to track this shows that things have been improving and keeps doing so.

I think there are few historical examples where someone was hanged and pronounced dead but then woke up and were pardoned.

It depends who you want to keep it private from. If the answer is from Facebook, then use Signal, but this should still help if your device ends up in the wrong hands.

A plow truck driver

I was actually just thinking about this few days ago. I remember someone in a podcast talking about how to find what you’re truly passionate about, and they recommended going back all the way into your childhood, and think about what kind of stuff you enjoyed then. Well I already have a pickup truck, so maybe I should just put a plow on it.

I was riding my moped on a dark gravel road back home with my buddy and as I make a left turn, I can see in my headlights someone doing jumping jacks on the middle of the road ahead. I pull aside thinking what the hell did I just see as my friend who was following me pulls next to me, lifts up his visor and is like ‘did you fucking see that?!’ We immediately go back to inspect and there’s no sign of anyone anywhere.

I never disconnected. I just stopped doing certain things in front of other people.

Not just cold, but also wet, dark and grey. Yet somehow we’re the happiest country in the world. Go figure.

I already am paranoid that there’s people near even when there aren’t. With this super power I wouldn’t need to speculate.

A common definition of consciousness is that it’s the fact that there’s something it’s like to be. It’s the ability to have a subjective experience. I think it’s a safe assumption that the brain is responsible for the emergence of consciousness, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s located in the brain. It’s not really located anywhere. That’s kind of like saying that waves are at the surface of the ocean when, in fact, they’re indistinguishable from each other. Your entire sense of existence is an appearance in consciousness. The feeling that it’s located behind your face is just another wave on the ocean.

I don’t think there’s any reason to assume there’s something that it’s like to be an individual cell. Consciousness probably needs a certain level of ability to process information for it to emerge, and I doubt cells reach this level. I mean, they could, but I wouldn’t make that assumption.
