Carbon capture and carbon trading were always pretty much a farce. We needed to stop using carbon generating stuff and go all in on renewables, but the powers that be decided that wasn’t profitable (even though that’s total bullshit).

We live in legally wacky time though, I’d probably err on the side of caution and announce the recording: It’d still have a deterrent effect and help prevent any legal fuckery.

Sounds like there’s a non-zero chance of extradition then, and would they care? Depends on the circumstances I guess. It still seems like announcing that the call is being recorded would have a good deterrent effect though.

In theory, couldn’t they still issue a warrant and try have you extradited?

What happens if a person in two party consent state calls someone in a one party or vice versa? Which state law applies?

Way too many politicians seem waaay too comfortable abusing their power to stay in power and flagrantly disregard the people they have literally sworn to represent.

It might be a problem with Lemmy, I had a similar problem posting from Mbin but the devs for Mbin said it was on Lemmy’s side. Mbin was trying to figure out a temporary work around last I heard.

You are mistaken, that is not what rights are or what the constitution says (“God-given, inalienable rights”).

If you let the government take them, that’s on you, but I guess it depends on how far the individual is willing to go in order to protect said rights.

If the government does something that is contrary to your rights, that’s them violating the rights, but they do not have the ability to rob you of your free will: You choose your actions, words, and what you are or are not willing to risk sacrificing to foil attempts to curtail those rights.

The rights are inalienable, not a special privilege granted by a government.
