First it was ontario is open for business, under pierre all of Canada will be “open for business”. They would sell every ounce of Canadian fresh water to just to watch a dozen people get rich.

As a Canadian who has watched our politics slowly try to mimic America’s, I’m terrfieid. As it is our conservative provincial premier is ripping out bike lanes on city streets that have apartments being built right now that offers significantly more bike parking than car parking. Its backwards progress, a signifcant amount of the lanes were just built and now we gotta spend more money ripping them out because some fat conservative feels offended he is too unfit to cycle.

Under trump i doubt much “freedom inhibiting” transit will be built. And bike lanes are ablist so they are gone. Sidewalks will be gone too as only “poor people” walk so why waste taxes on them. Hell, he might even rip out a railway to build a highway, cause that’s more american.

I think there is a disturbing charm that trump brings to some Americans. Almost like a “hes a no nonsense” or a “common sense” kind of guy but i think thats mostly because he can blow out tons of lies and misinformation with lots of confidence and some old fashioned American charisma. Hes happy to let people’s hate fuel their emotions.

As a canadian, our country brought in over 1 million imigrants in a year, but we didn’t really do anything to prepare the country for them. We didn’t ensure enough housing would be built to support them, we didn’t build any transit for people to get around cheaply, and we allow private schools to profit off selling them a sub-par education under false pretense.

The mass immigration has helped reveal some of the issues our country already had. Housing was already an issue before, now its even worse. The problem is many people didn’t see these problems building up and now blame the immigrants as the source of the housing crisis and employment issues.

I think it has potential to turn into a racially driven culture war and a significant amount of that sentiment could have been avoided if Canada was more thoughtful and planned the whole process better. I’ve got no problem with immigrants moving to Canada, but I want a country that can actually support them and give them the quality of life that was sold to them. Many immigrants feel lied to about the state of their schooling and the cost of living in Canada.

Ive used mine before because the rad was too big to fit internally.

For some of these companies, the only reason they are “too big to fail” is because they spent years buying out or otherwise crippling their competition.

You can’t blame 100% of your media consumption on the snartphone but I think it is counter-productive to treat it as not a factor in media addictions. Smartphones made media and content more accessible than ever, especially as mobile data rates got cheaper.

Smartphones are too stimulating for young children. Their brains are wired to really take in the lights, sounds and interactiveness of it all. This is kinda dangerous because this is also when a lot of learning is going on, they will develop socially based on the content they consume.

I’ve heard that some toddlers/babies recently began mimicing the action of pulling a mobile device from a pocket and looking down at the screen. They’ve seen others do it so often that they are learning it as a nearly instinctual action.
