From my viewpoint, Trump is and will be causing social hardship much more than economic hardship.

I could possibly see a benefit in preparing for a harder times socially. Further division among neighbors might be the main casualty of this administration. Social cohesion is already struggling from his first four years.

Economically, I have no confidence in Trump’s actions overall, but I am very confident that his massive ego determines his actions, and that ego is largely held up by the performance of the stock market. He will be very careful not to take any action that will rattle the markets too much. Whenever he see a negative reaction in the markets, he pulls back, claims a moral victory and moves on to the next thing.

Republicans don’t care when there’s a Republican in the White House. Then it’s just God’s will.

It’s like the Democrats and the Democratic Party have vanished from the face of the earth since election day. Everyone and their mom are kissing the ring of the returning king. It’s pretty shameful to watch.

Yes, I’m pointing out what Democrats fail to understand about conservatives.

No, I’m the opposite. I’m saying I’ve lived among conservatives for a long time.

Nah, for Conservatives, raising a conservative voter begins at birth. I’ve lived in that culture for a very long time.

There needs to be a culture change in how Democrats and progressivea raise their children politically.

Conservatives raise their children to vote, every time. Local, state, national. Every time. They actually show up on election day and they vote even when they have to hold their noses and they don’t like their candidate. Democrats find some excuse as to why their candidate is not worthy their vote and many stay home because they are mad about something in their own party.

That’s how Republicans can win again and again even when they are a minority of the population.

Generally speaking, wealth is not built by working. It’s built by investing. It’s possible to have a relatively small salary and get relatively wealthy if you consistently live below your means and invest the surplus. Power of compounding.

As always, Trump is just throwing shit on the wall to see is anything sticks. And everyone’s freaking out. He does these things with everything, but apparently people have learned nothing.

In the US, if you have money and power, you can get away with anything. Land of the free (If you’re rich).

Great jobs report = stock market dives. Apparently.

This can’t possibly come as a surprise to anyone. Lol

One thing to also keep in mind, Trump is a four year thing. And this is a Trump thing, not a US thing, and probably not even a Republican thing.

I’m pretty sure this is just another one of the crazy-ass negotiation tactics from Trump. He throws a bunch of shit on the wall and maybe some of it will stick.

He should just proclaim support for Greenland’s independence and offer the tiny population some great economic and diplomatic deals to get his way.

Greenland is part of one of the greatest social welfare systems in the world already. Trump doesn’t have anything other than military protection to offer in that regard. And Greenland is already part of NATO, so not really much there.

But I do think Greenland can and will take advantage of this situation to squeeze much more out of Denmark. And they should. Honestly, they deserve it. They’ve been overlooked for a long time.

Except this assumes that the US can actually do any of that, which is highly doubtful unless Trump is willing to go all scorched earth. We all know that Trump is a complete nutbag, but I’m not sure about scorched earth.

Well, Denmark has said all along that the fate of Greenland is up to Greenlanders, not Denmark. And that’s the truth. Denmark will always welcome Greenland in the realm, but it’s ultimately up to them if they want to stay.

At the end of the day, I can’t imagine that Greenland would want to leave one of the world’s best social systems, including a world-class healthcare system, to join the world’s crappiest healthcare system and a non-functional democracy.

Now, Trump may take Greenland by force. That’s a whole different story.

Military dominance in the Arctic. Russia and China are also vying for influence. The US already has a large military base there. Thule Space Base. But taking territory from friends and allies by military force is probably the worst way to go about doing anything.
