I feel like it is a story as old as time and not isolated to Boeing. I am pretty sure all companies that are publicly traded have a legal obligation to maximize stockholder return, it’s why most companies go to shit eventually. They may be able to frame making better decisions as an investment into future returns, but they are legally obligated to maximize returns. Boeing just did it while also being propped up by federal contracts where holding them accountable for the decline in quality and changing vendors was above everyone’s pay grade. End stage capitalism combined with good old boy government contracts = astronauts stuck on the space station. Boeing has been a powerhouse of profit for 50+ years before it crumbled, that is the entire adult life of a boomer. And we all know Boomers don’t give a shit about the next generation. So it served its purpose.
Disclaimer: I am in no way educated in business or have any experience. I am just stating my opinion. Back on the site we don’t speak of, usually a generic not relevant comment like this one just meant to join the conversation usually got buried with something relevant ending up at the top. Here it is one of a few comments so I feel obligated to point out that I am just talking out my ass. Remember, reddit went to shit when it became publicly traded and they began trying to maximize shareholder profit, unlike boeing who is propped up by the government, we just left.
Well, I was under the impression that the presidential elections were done by prescients, and mine voted 75% for Trump in 2020. I was so sure about this I spent the last hour trying to find some confirmation bias article, and I was only met with a billion sources saying AZ is a popular vote with winner takes all. I chose to blame the way the media presents election results by prescients and my apparently minimal knowledge of gerrymandering for my gross misunderstanding of how this all works. Luckily, I have still voted in every election despite thinking my (presidential) vote was wasted.
However, in my adventures I found how fucked we are at the state level thanks to some republican “redistricting” shenanigans. https://www.salon.com/2021/12/04/will-arizonas-relentless-gerrymander-decide-the-2024-presidential-election/
So, a total of a likely swing is about 0.333% to the red, Trump lost by 0.3% vs. Biden. If everything was equal, it would be a recount. Hopefully, Kamala brings more enthusiasm, and Trump dies off. I live in rural Arizona, my presidential vote never counts anyways, but I will say there are the same old Trumpers, but unlike the past 2 elections I now talk to a lot of apathetic Republicans that used to be vote red no matter who people. They are over Trump, they won’t vote against him, but they may not even vote. That is something I’ve never seen.
So get out and vote and maybe we can vote in numbers too large to manipulate.
Well, Trump will be much much worse? I get putting political pressure on her to take a hard stance on the issue, and don’t compromise on your values, but the blue MAGA shit is absurd. She can’t take a hard stance on it, she has to play politics. She is definitely better than the alternative, although I hate the idea of voting for the less evil, evil is evil. There is no middling.
Here’s the problem, it doesn’t matter.
This needs to be every thumbnail for every time there is an article about Trump whining about something.
This is all from Bernie waking a generation up and opening their eyes to what could be. It’s been over 8 years since he first ran and got into the spotlight. Millennials woke up, and saw that there is another option, now a lot of their children are of voting age in a generation that doesn’t listen to 24 hour news cycles that just fear monger, they aren’t scared of the immigrants or trans people. Bernie may not have been elected but he pushed generations to realize how fucked we are and that their is something to do about it. He pushed Harris to pick Walz. He mobilized the grassroots that have now hitched up to Kamalas wagon. Hopefully, things keep trending the way they look like they are. Bernie has done more good already than any president in my lifetime. Even if he hasn’t made massive policy change, he made a few generations become sentient and numbers are what we need.
First time I’ve ever clicked a truth social link
“We” aren’t going after them for this because they all do it, Trump just said it out loud. Welcome to American politics. This will never get fixed because the people in power stand to lose millions of dollars if it does. People will posture, pander, and pretend, but they will never get a majority willing to take the pay cut and actually fix it. It’s the a glitch in a capitalist republic.
Please no, don’t pander to the right. Pick up the people farther to the left and invigorate younger voters. We’ve had enough centrists and doing this unravels where your momentum is actually coming from. But I guess you have to appease the doners…
By her term two he’ll probably be dead (of natural causes.)
Shit, I live in AZ. I didn’t even know there was an election. I fucked up apparently. Sorry guys.
And a couch fucker.
Lol. They don’t care and it changes nothing. We all knew he was a racist piece of shit last week, and now we still do.
Poor guy just gave up on reelection. Not enough democrats will see this to vote across party lines to make up for the amount of crazies in his party that will not only not vote for him, but quite possibly send him death threats. I live in rural Arizona, I would love a sane mayor.
The only thing keeping people from voting against Trump was the other option was a corpse. People checked out because it was a joke. Apatgetic voters dont answer polls, and a lot of people weren’t going to vote that now will. The idea that the party listened to its constituents goes a long way. Even if Kamala isn’t ideal (she isn’t) she is a step in the right direction… NOT a corpse. She is hope that maybe the country isn’t doomed and she staves off the apathy most of us were feeling. Especially when the argument was “if you don’t go vote for the corpse, the incoming facism is your fault!”. Now, they did the bare minimum, so do I, I need to vote.
My favorite sentence ever
You are a sycophant for the broken 2 party system. He votes in line with democrats because it is the lesser of two EVILS. He still voices his opinions that are much farther left than the democrats. If you think he is a Democrat you haven’t actually been paying attention. Maybe the democrats are taking ownership of him and his followers? That would be pretty cool because it might actually pull one of the parties and the country toward sanity, which was his entire life’s goal.
The above response is kinda the wrong angle, but I can’t see why a bank is not allowed to deny a loan to someone who is not a citizen. If you by definition do not have legal right to live here, I don’t get why a bank is required to loan you money to buy a home. When you can be gone and out of the country a week later. I get maybe some are willing to loan to them, but not allowing them to deny it is kinda insane. I can’t believe they legally are even allowed to buy a home.
