If you are running it through Home Assistant- or indeed Apple HomeKit - it’s all local - no data collection
You know what would be useful? A link to the article you’re referring to. I’m guessing https://smarthomescene.com/guides/how-to-build-a-stable-and-robust-zigbee-network/

And it’s fitted properly? Is it completely closed when your neighbour has their extractor on?
I wouldn’t bother with that, I’d instead look at it from the other point of view and think about fitting something like a simple vent gravity flap to your hood outlet, that is closed when your hood is off, and opens when your hood is on. I.e seals the vent to prevent smells.

Render distance would be reduced requiring us to come up with plausible theories to account for the fact that there is a limit to the size of the so-called ‘observable universe’

I have smart radiator valves I use to reduce heating cost. During weekdays the morning when the heating comes on, I know the main living room isn’t going to be used, so the rads turn themselves off, coming on late afternoon, just before the kids get home.
Smart bulbs are only really used while we are away on holiday, to simulate people being in.
I have solar panels, batteries and am on sn agile electricity tariff that changes every 30 minutes with 24 notice. Automations make sure the batteries are charged up ahead of any peak rate. Occasionally energy prices go negative if there is an excess of wind power on the grid. At that point my immersion heater starts heating water in my hot water tank, saving gas and making me money.
To be clear, I think the company are idiotic in the way they handled this, but I guess the integration probably hooked into the company’s cloud-based services - so their servers.
Why wouldn’t the IRS want to get tax returns filed directly from the tax payers,
I’m sure they would but some well-funded lobbyists have decided that excluding the free market would be detrimental to The American Way of Life™️
You’ll have to fill in a form to prove that, I’m afraid :)
Have a good day.
That’s not to do with copying anyone though. It’s just an intrinsic problem with the complexity: “We’re pretty sure we have the information needed to calculate your tax? No worries, we won’t brother you. Affairs are more complicated? We’ll have to ask you for help”
I’m not sure how you drew that conclusion from what I said.
In the UK, I’ve certainly had times when I’ve paid too much and they refunded me.
In the UK, if you are basically employed by one employer with minimal savings, you don’t have to fill in a tax return. As soon as things get a bit more complicated- you are self-employed or have multiple streams of income, you have to fill in a return
…and the UK online form is really good, in my opinion.
Could you give som examples of where it’s desirable ?
