Need to call a special fact-finding hearing featuring the editors of Merriam-Webster’s, Collins, and the Oxford English Dictionary. Let’s pencil it in for three weeks from next Monday.

It’s not a “Boogeyman” or a “scare tactic” if it actually happened. Trump did appoint three justices, those justices were significantly more right-wing than the ones they replaced, and as a result they actually did overturn Roe v. Wade and a side swath of other rights and regulations. Maybe keep that very recent history in mind when you hear the same people who warned about it then warning about him trying to end democracy in America now.
That was before the GOP became the party of sociopathy. I’m sure loving dogs will be the next symptom of the Woke Mind Virus.
It’s telling how ambiguous this headline is (either “fans of Trump are raging” or “Trump is fanning the rage”).
She’s also diabetic, a former chain-smoker, and has to travel with a medic.
She ran on a center right political platform (if you can call it that) nearly as derelict as Trump’s 2020 platform.
This is flatly untrue. She obviously wasn’t as left as Sanders, but she ran on a policy platform more progressive than Obama and was arguably the most liberal nominee on a relative basis since McGovern.
Ronna McDaniel said the quiet part out loud on NBC
“Her choice and her decision was, ‘I’m going to put my own views secondary to the views of the larger party,’” said David Urban, a former senior Trump campaign adviser who has his own contributor contract at CNN. “I’ve seen people that say, ‘Oh, your job is to represent America, not represent your party. That’s not necessarily true. She’s in large part a spokesperson for the party and the figurehead for the party. If that’s where the party is or was at the time, then that’s that.”

Also try to play AntGame.io at least once a day to get a decent score.
I thoroughly enjoy MetaFilter (one of the last surviving community blogs from the 90s) and Tildes (a more recent attempt at capturing the same feel). Text-heavy discourse, minimalist design, human-scale moderation, and moderately gatekept (MeFi has a $5 fee, Tildes is invite-only). PM me if you’re interested.
Pretty ballsy coming from an Indiana GOP senator after the last challenger dropped out.
Now let’s see what he says in November.
Analysis: Trump election win could add 4bn tonnes to US emissions by 2030
A victory for Donald Trump in November’s presidential election could lead to an additional 4bn tonnes of US emissions by 2030 compared with Joe Biden’s plans, Carbon Brief analysis reveals.
This extra 4bn tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO2e) by 2030 would cause global climate damages worth more than $900bn, based on the latest US government valuations.
For context, 4GtCO2e is equivalent to the combined annual emissions of the EU and Japan, or the combined annual total of the world’s 140 lowest-emitting countries.
Put another way, the extra 4GtCO2e from a second Trump term would negate – twice over – all of the savings from deploying wind, solar and other clean technologies around the world over the past five years.
If Trump secures a second term, the US would also very likely miss its global climate pledge by a wide margin, with emissions only falling to 28% below 2005 levels by 2030. The US’s current target under the Paris Agreement is to achieve a 50-52% reduction by 2030.
A generic candidate will always poll higher because they have no specific flaws and every type of voter can project their own ideal platform onto them.
Defederating Beehaw would not only weaken it as an instance, but remove its positive influence from the wider fediverse. The big platforms wield so much power and influence and money, the smaller upstarts need to connect as much as possible to stand a chance at relevance as a credible alternative. We’re all better together. I really hope you reconsider.
Assuming you mean the actual Soviet Union, Chernobyl was incredibly well-done.
You can do anything at Zombo.com. Anything at all. The only limit is yourself.
“WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, DON’T MAKE LEMONADE. MAKE LIFE TAKE THE LEMONS BACK! GET MAD! I DON’T WANT YOUR DAMN LEMONS! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THESE?! DEMAND TO SEE LIFE’S MANAGER! MAKE LIFE RUE THE DAY IT THOUGHT IT COULD GIVE CAVE JOHNSON LEMONS! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! I’M THE MAN WHO’S GONNA BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN! WITH THE LEMONS! I’M GONNA GET MY ENGINEERS TO INVENT A COMBUSTIBLE LEMON THAT BURNS YOUR HOUSE DOWN!”
Not only is Odysee based on crypto BS, but it caters to conspiracy nuts, neo-Nazis, and other extreme-right hate groups. No thanks.
If I could mandate one rule for the fediverse that it didn’t already have, it would be a hard ban on reposts, especially those undated Twitter screencaps that took over entire subreddits the last few years.
Biden has objectively been the most progressive president since LBJ, and the most effective progressive president since FDR. And he did it with about the slimmest possible congressional margins, a situation which would have made it very easy for an actual “establishment neoliberal hack” to say “my hands are tied” and accomplish nothing of substance. Instead we got the biggest climate reform package ever, the biggest infrastructure package since the Interstate Highway system, a child tax credit that massively reduced child poverty, the most significant industrial policy in decades (CHIPS and Science), a veritable bulldog FTC chair with an aggressive anti-monopoly stance, and that’s just for starters.
