Do you mean Calibre?
Do you mean Calibre?
That is honestly impressive. I can confidently say I’ve only owned one wired headset for a decade, and it’s the one I use for gaming so it never leaves my office.
Everything else has either broken, or been lost. Though I fully admit, serviceable wireless buds would be a thing of beauty. IIRC there are people out there actively working on the problem (other than the companies explicitly aiming for them to be a consumable forever.)
I’ve owned three Bluetooth headsets in total. The first I lost, the second is now my wife’s, and the third I still use. I wouldn’t call them disposable, but I’ll agree they are easier to lose.
Something a wired set of anything can’t give me is absolute freedom to move my head and walk away from my phone. I will never willingly go back to wired for anything other than gaming.
They did have a dongle for it. Annoying, but not insurmountable by any means.
Honestly? For all the bitching when Apple first removed it, I hadent and haven’t used wired headphones for a long while. I had Bluetooth headphones long before then.
Yeah… as the son of smokers, everyone can smell the cigs on you. There’s really no escaping it.
You realize lip and gum cancer are caused by smoking as well? Not to mention teeth and skin yellowing? There are more but you get my point.
There are so many different issues caused by so many different things in cigarettes. Smoke in the lungs is just part of the problem.
For the very well known health concerns of smoking?
Self hosting is fine, assuming you have sane policies in place. Policies like “don’t play in prod” and “don’t let the intern touch prod.” 🤪
It has interesting uses but I agree it’s more than a teeny bit dangerous. https://getamp.sh/ uses it to simplify the install command.
I mean… it’s not wrong.
The data does get pulled, but only if it is “old.” If you just pulled 0.5 seconds ago, you don’t even need to check.
While this works for most things, you will run into issues with certain software which automatically assume that no TLD means the provided address is incorrect.
*.internal.domain.name
since ssl certs are easier to get when you’re using an owned domain name.
They had both NetSupport and DeepFreeze installed. At the time, NetSupport config files could be decrypted with a simply python script, and contained the password. Turns out, it was the general admin password.
So I had admin creds, full control of any PC with NetSupport, and the ability to install anything on a computer and have it survive past a reboot.
What did I do with it? Video games, mostly.
Is a Dynamic DNS not an option for you? Most residential plans keep their IP for months if not years, only really changing if the model drops for long periods of time.
It’s not as detectable as you think. One of the major things most VPS companies tout, is that the data is fully encrypted and private. So they aren’t scanning the files, or the running processes, or anything else about what is being done with the server.
So unless something external to the company is provided, which acts as proof, they won’t shut things down.

It’s unprofitable to pay for workers visits to the hospital. Even if you have insurance, which goes up with repeated “accidents”, you’re paying in lost productivity.
