I never said you support genocide. You are defending the US sending weapons to one, while denying that it is one.
I’m firmly anti-genocide. I’m against any group of people committing genocide against any other group of people.
If you consider human rights organizations, genocide scholars, multiple Israeli Historians, and multiple western and Israeli News sources propaganda, sure.
Maybe if you actually engaged with the sources you’d think differently, instead of writing them off because they might make you feel uncomfortable

The Leahy Laws or Leahy amendments are U.S. human rights laws that prohibit the U.S. Department of State and Department of Defense from providing military assistance to foreign security force units that violate human rights with impunity
Zionism is a settler colonialism project that was able to really start with the support of British Imperialism. Zionism as a political movement started with Theodore Herzl in the 1880s as a ‘modern’ way to ‘solve’ the ‘Jewish Question’ of Europe.
Adi Callai, an Israeli, does a great analysis of how Antisemitism has been weaponized by Zionism during its history.
Since at least the 1860’s, Europe was increasingly antisemitic and hostile to Jewish people. Zionism was explicitly a Setter Colonialist movement and the native Palestinians were not considered People but Savages by the Europeans. While Zionist Colonization began before it, the Balfor Declaration is when Britain gave it’s backing of the movement in order to ‘solve’ the ‘Jewish Question’ while also creating a Colony in the newly conquered Middle East after WWI in order to exhibit military force in the region and extract natural resources.
That’s when Zionist immigration started to pick up, out of necessity for most as Europe became more hostile and antisemitic. That continued into and during WWII, European countries and even the US refused to expand immigration quotas for Jewish people seeking asylum. The idea that the creation of Israel is a reparation for Jewish people is an after-the-fact justification. While most Jewish immigrants had no choice and just wanted a place to live in peace, it was the Zionist Leadership that developed and implemented the forced transfer, ethnic cleansing, of the native population, Palestinians. Without any Occupation, Apartheid, and ethnic cleansing, there would not be any Palestinian resistance to it.
Herzl himself explicitly considered Zionism a Settler Colonialist project, Setter Colonialism is always violent. The difficulty in creating a democratic Jewish state in an area inhabited by people who are not Jewish, is that enough Palestinian people need to be ‘Transferred’ to have a demographic majority that is Jewish. Ben-Gurion explicitly rejected Secular Bi-national state solutions in favor of partition.
Zionism’s aims in Palestine, its deeply-held conviction that the Land of Israel belonged exclusively to the Jewish people as a whole, and the idea of Palestine’s “civilizational barrenness" or “emptiness” against the background of European imperialist ideologies all converged in the logical conclusion that the native population should make way for thenewcomers.
The idea that the Palestinian Arabs must find a place for themselves elsewhere was articulated early on. Indeed, the founder of the movement, Theodor Herzl, provided an early reference to transfer even before he formally outlined his theory of Zionist rebirth in his Judenstat.
An 1895 entry in his diary provides in embryonic form many of the elements that were to be demonstrated repeatedly in the Zionist quest for solutions to the “Arab problem ”-the idea of dealing with state governments over the heads of the indigenous population, Jewish acquisition of property that would be inalienable, “Hebrew Land" and “Hebrew Labor,” and the removal of the native population.

How about the Leahy Law and International Humanitarian Law
In a new research briefing submitted to the U.S. government today as part of the National Security Memorandum on Safeguards and Accountability with Respect to Transferred Defense Articles and Defense Services (NSM-20) process, Amnesty International USA details civilian deaths and injuries with U.S.-made weapons, as well as other cases that highlight an overall pattern of unlawful attacks by Israeli forces. The briefing also details practices by Israeli forces inconsistent with best practices for mitigating civilian harm and provides clear examples of the misuse of defense articles, the commission of torture, and the use of unlawful lethal force. Lastly, the briefing also details the denial of humanitarian assistance to the civilian population of Gaza.
“It’s shocking that the Biden administration continues to hold that the government of Israel is not violating international humanitarian law with U.S.-provided weapons when our research shows otherwise and international law experts disagree,” said Amanda Klasing, National Director for Government Relations with Amnesty International USA. “The International Court of Justice found the risk of genocide in Gaza is plausible and ordered provisional measures. President Biden must end U.S. complicity with the government of Israel’s grave violations of international law and immediately suspend the transfer of weapons to the government of Israel.”
“The evidence is clear and overwhelming: the government of Israel is using U.S.-made weapons in violation of international humanitarian and human rights law, and in a manner that is inconsistent with U.S. law and policy, said Klasing. “In order to follow U.S. laws and policies, the United States must immediately suspend any transfer of arms to the government of Israel.”
Because they want more land
She and Biden are certainly not above sending weapons unconditionally to a country currently committing a genocide
And yes, Trump would be even worse
Is he going to occupy Mexico too? Maybe some modern manifest destiny?
Anti-immigrant sentiment has always been thinly veiled racism in America. Islamophobia, which is normalized in America, hasn’t even been thinly veiled, it’s just been straight up racist. But Americans have been conditioned into just thinking it’s just normal, dehumanizing Muslims and all non-white immigrants without being aware of it (It’s intentional to the US State Department ofc, to justify it’s imperialism)
I hope this is the catalyst for Americans to confront this for the racism it is. I feel like many still think racism has been ‘solved’ in America since the Civil Rights Movement, but the reality is that it simply shifted and still needs to be addressed seriously
American conservatives have always been some flavor of Fascists. Nazis, Neo Nazis, White Supremacists, White Nationalist, etc. Trump is literally doing Hitler rhetoric such as ‘Immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country’ there is absolutely no reason for anyone to pretend that the Republican party is anything else but Fascists
I’ll hold my breath until it’s actually done, but this is a good thing to hear
You can vote for Harris and also be an anti-genocide advocate by demanding your representatives to BDS Israel, back anti-genocide bills put forth by progressive Democrats, and demand they support ending unconditional military aid to Israel. Every US voter can and should do both.
Trump will obviously be worse on all aspects of domestic and foreign policy.
This article has a lot of insight. One thing that stood out what that the methodology changed in 2021 and was retroactively applied to the 2020 data.
In early October 2022, the FBI released its long-awaited compilation of 2021 crime data. But this data differed sharply in content and quality from previous years due to a transition in the way the government collects crime data. Specifically, 2021 was the first year to rely exclusively on a recently updated system for tracking crime data, the National Incident-Based Reporting System. Many agencies were not able to transition to the new format in time. As a result, the bureau received full-year reports from agencies covering just half of the country’s population. By comparison, earlier reports included a full year of data from agencies covering roughly 95 percent of the population.
To fill these gaps, the FBI’s report on national crime trends relied heavily on estimates. The agency estimated crime trends for 2021 based on the data it had available. Then it went back to 2020 and applied that same estimating methodology as if that year’s data had been similarly incomplete. In doing so, the bureau aimed to create an appropriate “apples to apples” comparison, despite the differences in data quality. The FBI also used upper- and lower-bound estimates given the uncertainty about the agency’s conclusions, estimates we represent as a rough margin of error.
It makes no sense for Democrats to capitulate to Right Wing Framing on immigration, the idea that immigrants are bringing in crime and drugs are straight up lies. I don’t know why they are, the Pro-immigration messaging in 2016 was popular too
That’s why I’m talking about Public schools that are available to everyone. Not just High School either, College should also be public and free. I would even support paying students to attend college, like in some European countries. I agree that Private Schools are terrible for many reasons, they take money away from public schools, and they are commonly used to segregate communities.
That seems like more an argument for why we need significantly better public education, not for why the tyranny of the minority is better than the tyranny of the majority
Pressure needs to be applied everywhere, from awareness by friends/family to personal BDS to local representatives to DNC delegates to Presidents. Anti-genocide and anti-apartheid momentum has made great strides in the last year, it’s critical to keep that momentum growing. This will definitely be more difficult than the South African Anti-Apartheid movement
That’s not true, the vast majority of homelessness is caused by being priced out of the housing market.
Housing First is the correct way to reduce homelessness. The main cause of homelessness is being priced out of the housing market, because the vast majority of housing in America is entirely privatized. Plus most public housing in America is not done nor funded well, until our European counterparts.
The problem in America is the housing market is nearly entirely private, zoning laws that prevent dense housing from being built, and the lack of public funded (nice) public housing. Housing is first and foremost an investment here, not a fundamental right to shelter like it should be.
Drug addiction is a symptom of late-stage homelessness, not a cause. The cause is almost always the private housing market pricing people out of affording even rent.
Numerous studies show that housing first participants experience higher levels of housing retention and use fewer emergency and criminal justice services, which produces cost savings in emergency department use, inpatient hospitalizations, and criminal justice system use.
