So people who don’t live in swing states should vote third party until there’s enough of them that the state is in danger of going to trump (or whoever)? If they’re successful at some point that’s a threat.

However you slice it, we’re looking at like a 20 year struggle minimum to get election reform, and it would be at least the same length to elect a third party candidate to the office of president, but that’s a one off thing. (Or more likely that third party would be the new one of two parties)

If we’re committed to the struggle of improving things, we might as well improve a reusable process rather than have a single go at a third party presidential candidate.

It could be a career, or religion. For me I was planning to become a pastor, but then became an atheist. It really did throw me off. In my case I think I’m much happier than I would have been, but do kick myself because I could have been positioned much better if I wasn’t making plans in this other direction.

Remember you need two thirds of both chambers to pass an amendment, followed by three fourths of states. In our current environment that’s nearly impossible. We should be throwing everything at the wall, and if one thing is rejected, that may sway people who haven’t been tuned in, which could be crucial in applying further action.

There’s also value in doing fucking anything. Why should people support a party that won’t fight for what’s important? I refuse to just complain, or to accept hopelessness. I expect that something will be done, and I’m going to vote and act accordingly.

You don’t need to convince me. I’m talking about gathering critical support for something like a constitutional amendment. Nothing wrong with passing a bill first. Amendments are hard.

The constitution doesn’t even give the supreme court the power to declare things unconstitutional. They just decided to do that early on and everyone went along with it.

Suppose the court does declare such a law unconstitutional. Imagine how it would look. Yes, such a law might not be the end of things, but if it was declared unconstitutional it would be a clear call for hobbling the court, because it would demonstrate they’re corrupt.

Also if the lie is women don’t need men, then how will these supposed liar feds sway the women to them after they abandon their existing men?

And he presupposes that the only way to “acquire” women is to either convince them their man sucks, or that they don’t need a man. Why not just find an unattached woman? And/or become a more desirable man?

Yeah, watching it gives a more accurate impression than just the headline “slapped”. Still he is trying to use physical force (however light) to get someone else’s child to comply. Also for a politician shows little self control, and gives an indication of his “problem solving”

I don’t think anything will come of it, but just in case you’re not aware, it’s a crime to lie to the FBI. So while they’re interviewing Trump as a victim, if he knowingly lied about something, even unrelated to the shooting, that could be the basis for criminal charges.
