Dude(ette), I have nothing to do with this self hosting thing and even I knew years ago plex was shit. It’s been extremely obvious just from browsing reddit (before leaving) and lemmy. I don’t know anything about any of this other than plex having an extremely bad reputation. How did you manage to become part of this and still chose to use it?

I mostly listen to older music, 60s-90s, not for any reason other than that’s the time frame where I find more music that I like. Still lots of good stuff today too though! And that’s by far not a comprehensive list, just the ones I thought of right now.

I never paid any attention to him, so I only know that one time he made some kids make a sign with heil Hitler or something like that (which from what I’ve read was just a joke in bad taste, he isn’t a nazi or major racist). Otherwise, I haven’t heard anything bad about him, he was just never someone I cared to know more about and watch, seemed to be mostly for kids. Please, correct anything I’ve said if I’m wrong.
A photo of Trump next to a normal (both in looks and mentally) person never stops being surprising, hilarious and disturbing. We all know he both looks and behaves like an absolute clown, but most photos of him are of his goons and/or other dictators (real or wannabes) who all look ridiculous so you don’t get that direct comparison.

Anime and weeb culture is a plague on humanity. It’s objectively bad and anyone who likes it is fucked in the head. I’ve never met a weeb who isn’t a creep.

If you click “newsletter” it’s just text about it, no link or anything to sign up on that page. So you click “subscribe” in the menu and it says “digital - free” but when you make and account it then tells you only the first one is free, after that it’s $5 a month, and they need your payment information to even get the free one.
I understand they need to make money, but don’t lie and say something is free when it isn’t. There was absolutely nothing saying it isn’t free before you make your account and it sends you directly to add payment info. Not good, left immediately and won’t be back.
Edit: I tried it in another browser and now see small grey text saying it’s $5 a month below the big “Digital - Free”. That feels consciously designed to make you miss it.

Does anyone remember Megalinks on Reddit? They started a forum after it was shut down, I was lucky enough to get invited before they closed registration. The forums are still very active and it’s the best community I’ve experienced online. I spend as much time there as I do here.

Same with “it’s so bad it’s good” both with and without “nah, it’s just bad” after. I think one of the most well known things like that is “The Room”, and many reference that movie when something else fits the description but it’s not at all from that movie, it existed long before it.
