I’ve got a Firefox extension that blocks websites after an amendable period of time is spent on them, so I limit my time on social media websites to 1 hour a day because I felt I was spending too much time reading mindless drivel, and I often don’t even reach an hour nowadays, having only looked at Lemmy.

Regarding antidepressants: I was on them for a number of years and I’d say they’re a stopgap to keep you surviving until you can finally tackle the problem once and for all with something therapy. They make you feel very grey, assuming there’s no side-effects, which can be anywhere between mildly amusing to headwrecking. But of course, grey is lighter than black, and on the other hand, I’ve known people who’ve been taking antidepressants for decades. I’m ridiculously self-disciplined so I often find it relatively easy to rationalise ruminations away but some aren’t so lucky. So I agree with the others saying you should ask a doctor about it. I spoke to my GP about it to begin with.

• I could hide the events in my calendar so I could still see the real events I want to keep track of, or
• to use a different calendar for this particular thing, or
• to assign them their own colour which I can easily ignore.

It sounds cringeworthy if you’re not American though. The standard way of saying it is “you lot” and other dialects, like mine, have “yous”.

It’s a song about how immigrants are normal people with thoughts and feelings, our friends and family and so on, released when an anti-immigration sentiment was completely mainstream, but also just as Corbyn was becoming popular, and the singer’s belting it out despite being knackered, and the crowd’s belting it back, until he falls down crying because everyone’s onside with his song he’d written about friendship and love, and the guitarist takes over without a second thought, and his wife comes out with their baby in a papoose to kiss him… I’m getting a lump in my throat just describing it.

Keep your knife sharp, remember that you cut by running the blade along something rather than pressing into it, and keep your fingers out the way by doing the claw with the other hand and keeping your grip firm. Then just practise!
