Pay attention to when people tell you what to think and be extra suspicious of that kind of behavior. Question everything. Trust but verify.
Now don’t fall into the trap of just being a contrarian. Just because everyone is telling you the same thing doesn’t mean it’s ALWAYS some big conspiracy. It could actually just be the right thing.
Basically just be curious and don’t form opinions purely based off people you look up to or admire.
I used to be a zoom admin for a very large college before and during the start of COVID. At that time I never recall seeing anything about participation metrics and whatnot. Other than someone recording the meeting and watching it back I don’t think there is anything they can see besides who joined and what/if they typed.
I will say the admins can see “private” dms to each other if they really want to. So while nobody else in the call can see what you’re typing to your buddy in the moment the admins can if they want to. So don’t type anything in those private chats unless you would hypothetically be ok with your boss seeing it.
It’s been a few years since I left that job though so it possible they have added more data logging for things like camera and mic “on” time.
Personally even now for my work as long as I connect to the meetings when I’m supposed to they never care if I turn on my webcam or unmute. I’ll answer the random question thrown my way, but otherwise I’m on my phone or doing actual work work while sorta half listening to whatever meeting.
Unfortunately this is the Democrats fault at this point. A real boy who cried wolf situation. Y’all hated this man so much that you tried anything and everything to shut him down.
All you did was make it so everyone stopped listening to what you had to say. People even tried to warn you about this approach after the 2016 election but you guys were the “is it me that’s out of touch? No it’s clearly them who is wrong” meme.
I guess we all get to look forward to Republican rule forever since the Democrats are literally incapable of seeing how they contributed to this situation.

I didn’t get what I voted for. But I’m not delusional like the majority of the Democrats are apparently.
The first vote I could vote for was Obamas second term ( I was just a tad too young to vote for him the first time around) and I did so happily. Then is 2016 I voted for Hillary and was disappointed like many of you when Trump won.
For the 2020 election I went registered as an independent because I no longer identified as a Democrat. I still have left leaning bias on the majority of issues but I could not identify with the Democrats anymore. I still voted for them, but I wasn’t happy about it. Like many that cycle I viewed Biden as the lesser of two evils.
Now we get to 2024. I live in California. California was going blue no matter what. But I voted third party because I could not bring myself to vote for Kamala and the current Democratic party again. Just like I cannot bring myself to vote for the King Cheeto himself. My vote was simply a vote of protest for the current leaders of the Democratic party. They need to see that if they don’t change their approach going forward they are going to lose Democratic strong holds like California as well. This past election was one of the closest California has had in awhile. Clearly I am not the only person in my state disillusioned with how my old party has been doing things.
I really really want them to put forward someone genuinely good in 2028, but I fear they learned all the wrong lessons for the last 10 years. Only time will tell I guess.

Abuse of power is abuse of power. The Democrats can’t say they are the party of the just and fair when they are doing the exact same shit they condemn the right for doing.
The Democrats will continue to lose if they try and play dodgeball with the Teflon Don. Nothing has stuck or ever will stick to that man and it’s almost entirely thanks to the Democrats in the first place. They should have chosen to eat it on the nose and double down on them being the party that doesn’t try and break rules for personal gain. At least then they would have a legitimate leg to stand on. But they didn’t. They tried to play Trumps game. And they lost. And they will continue to lose.
I want to believe they will have learned anything from 2016-2024, but only time will tell. I suspect that when 2028 rolls around we will find out that the Democrats have still learned absolutely nothing. Based on my discussions with my left leaning friends and family its really not looking good for them in 2028.
I think you are seriously underestimating what can happen when you assassinate a controversial figure like Trump. It would 100% only make things worse.
To wish he would get killed is unbelievably short sighted thinking. I understand the thought process on a surface level but it would be a terrible fucking idea.
Talk to literally any historian ever and see what they have to say about assassinating highly controversial figures.

You seriously think that having him get assassinated would make things better? Do you have any idea what a martyr is? You think you don’t like him right now just wait how much you would hate the guy if he was assassinated. God you would never hear the end of it.
Your best bet is that he doesn’t fuck anything up too spectacularly in the next 4 years and then we can all forget he ever existed and hopefully never speak his name again.
I live in a deep blue state. Family is all very blue. They have learned absolutely nothing. They all think what the Democrats did was perfect. Kamala was flawless. She didn’t get elected because America is racist AND sexist.
They genuinely believe that there was nothing they could have done to improve.
I think they are gonna have to learn this lesson a few more times before they pull their heads outta their ass finally. I hope.

Rule 1 for Lemmy overall or that specific sub? Cause I don’t see any rules listed under the “about” tab. I didn’t break rule 1 as its written as far as I can tell. So that just feels like mod abuse because they didn’t like what I said or something.
I also didn’t get any sort of notification for this temporary ban. Is that intentional? It was simply giving me “network errors” whenever I tried to upvote something and the feedback for the user was very unclear.
I know I’m asking a lot of questions but can anyone see the ban logs for everything? I am obviously very new and still trying to figure out how this whole shindig works.

Highly recommended, but not necessary: Take an edible ~ 2 hours before you wanna go to sleep so you’re in the middle of riding that high when it’s time to crash.
Just take a scoop out and bring it back. Should be easy right? Lol
When I was ~10 I was running around the house with a white bedsheet over my head. I was pretending to be a ghost while I chased my older brother around the house. Unfortunately I slipped backwards on the sheet and hit the back of my head on my mom’s solid oak coffee table. Immediately blood started soaking the sheet red and I obviously screamed out in pain. My mom came running into the living room to find me screaming and the sheet just turning more and more red.
At this time we lived about an hour away from the nearest hospital and my mom knew if she tried to take me in for stitches that I would probably bite the doctor or something (I have a pathological fear of needles). So she opted to shave my head and tape it shut. Then she instructed my brother to keep me awake for the next few hours (she was worried about a concussion) and she let me watch whatever movie or play whatever video game I wanted for the rest of the day.
It healed fine and now I have a small scar on the back of my head that is only visible if I shave my hair super short.
I used to live up near Lake Tahoe. I lost count of how many city folk would think all wheel drive would be enough and skipped chains/cables.
One of our favorite things was watching people pour hot coffee or water on their frozen windshield. Man that never stopped being hilarious to watch. They would often just stand there in disbelief after their windshield shattered lol.
