I don’t wanna start a shit storm, but I think Canada got it right calling them first nations.

For one it’s just more accurate, they’re more than tribes, they’re independent, sovereign, recognized nations, who were indeed here first. First nations, has a certain simplicity and forthrightness that’s hard to fuck up.

Secondly, as a giant ass white dude from the Midwest I consider myself native. I hate to be rude about it, but my ancestors have been here for centuries, I’m not from anywhere else. I’m willing to bet Europe doesn’t want me or any other American back.

Politics aside, I’ve known a few lactose intolerant people who still love ice cream. Willing to put themselves, those they care about and share confined spaces with, through the consequences of their intolerance for a scoop of that sweet salty iced cream with chocolate.

Deep impact is a great movie! Directed by Mimi Leder. She also directed The Peacemaker, a great 90’s adventure movie with George Clooney and Nichole Kidman. If you’re into that sort of thing.

I never got the dune hype either, book or movie. The latest was fun to watch on the big screen, and the 80’s make is awesomely 80’s in all its 80’s terribleness. But over all it gets a meh from me. And I’m a huge SF nerd.
