That’s a cool take on it. I feel like I just haven’t found a solid hobby that’s fun to me. I’ve tried several, the only things that have partially stuck are video games, programming, and DND, but they still feel like a chore to keep learning.

I’m exactly the same. Hobbies just don’t stick, and I can’t commit to the grind of getting better at them.

Do you want it to show matches with people who are around your location, or anyone on the internet? If it’s the latter, maybe try starting a dating community, if there isn’t one already.

You could have people start a thread with the basic info: age, location, gender, sexuality, etc. Then what you’re looking for: age range, hookup or long term, etc.

The comments could be general questions like an AMA to get a better idea.

As for why your post got downvoted, it seems that Lemmy is majority Atheist, based on the amount of posts I see on “All / Hot”. Your community may be targeted by a small group if this is a recurring event.

I don’t have a good solution for you in the meantime. I know that communities can be blocked by instances, so you may be able to get in contact with lemmy.ml, beehaw, lem.ee, etc. instance owners and ask them to block your community from their feeds, or something like that.
