oh my god. i’m so excited right now. i majored in Computer Linguistics and Philosophy in college. i have a degree in exactly this. so… a computer programming language (PL) is a dialectic set of commands that can be composed and then compiled into machine langauge (ML) and interpretted by the computer into manipulations on a data structure. the primary goal of a PL is to facilitate human to human communication about what the program’s ML will do. there has only ever been one serious attempt to create a PL with the breadth of expresson of human language (HL) through Perl. this has generally been found to be a bad idea.

however, Perl revealed still addressed some very serious issues in computer linguistics that are starting to be addressed now 30 years later. the biggest success story to come out of Perl is Ruby. see the problem in computer liguistics is that almost all of the PLs in any kind of use are structured around Germanic, Italic, and Ruthenic grammars. this is especially damaging for people whose people have been opressed by speakers of these languages. there’s been a burgeoning movement to structure at least SOME PLs around native languages in Siberia, Africa, southeast Asia, and North America, especially languages that are at risk of total elimination like Lakota, Lomavren, and Ongota. unfortunately we also have to confront the colonial economic forces that have been strangling these languages as no boss wants code written for business in a PL structured around a critically endangered language

• join a community defense group
• grow root vegetables and legumes in your garden, on your roof, or in window boxes
• filter and store water
• attend protests and meet the people there
• talk to your neighbors about what these things mean locally for your community
• learn the SALUTE set of qualified data
• learn the whistle blast signal system

truth speakers and goofs is very on brand for what resistence to fascism has always been

this ignores how many precolonial societies were wholly nonviolent. there are three kinds of culture: pure cultures, remix cultures, and domination cultures. pure cultures resist outside influence on their culture. remix cultures integrate ideas and concepts into their culture very fluidly. domination cultures attempt to eliminate other cultures they encounter. the only reason you perceive it as a biological imperative this way is that domination cultures seek to acquire and justify the power to eliminate pure and remix cultures, and then they do, and the evidence that the pure or remix culture they eliminated is gone, no longer able to speak on how they see the world and the other cultures. give this process 20k years and eventually you have an extremely small number of domination cultures subjugating the remnants of the other cultures.

this is the situation we find ourselves in today. there is nothing saying it must be this way, except for the domination cultures themselves. we can work to stop the domination cultures, but as we do this we must learn to listen to the pure and remix cultures. part of why we must do this is that the domination cultures if treated as pure cultures will continue on their course. they must be converted to remix cultures, integrating into themselves the idea of remix and pure cultures that they don’t have to be so fucking violent all the time

these are florida based cubanos mind you. the original seed population for that community was peeple who fled cuba early because it was a threat to them personally. yes, they’re worried about the civil liberties lost, but a lot of them are also salty about the loss of their profit generating sugar plantations. they don’t really engage with the positive aspects of fidel castro’s dictatorship because for them, personally, those were negative aspects.

and none of this is to discount the issues of civil liberties experience in cuba, but a lot of later people who then arrive in florida for whom things weren’t as bad on the front of wealth redistribution get bombarded by the seed population saying “see, communism and wealth redistribution always leads to problems” and that propaganda subsumes any discussion surrounding the push between centralized vs decentralized authority.
