Same thought here, why uploading it to proton drive? github isnt evil that they trying to snatch that code or whatever. If you are so cautious then ramp up a gitea or gitlab self hosted instance up.

You are not the first one to ask this. We dont know, my guess would be, because Selfhost is so popular it federated almost everywhere, and spammers probably saw that and attacked through that.

I installed it now, it is working fine with my pihole. It wasnt that much of a hussle but a bit of googling.

Does it really do that? I thought if pi-hole blocks it, it just says nothing here, normally a pc then looks up your secondary dns and then ads are back at it.

This was my experience when i did that.

Every instance is good because every instance can interact with many other instances with comments, posts etc. So you arent really locked into one instance. its the magic of federation.

Facebook has like many thousands or even hundreds of thousands really dead accounts ( of dead people ), some of those accounts are just Oculus accounts as they got forced to create a facebook account, but i think those are very low in the hundreds or with low probability in the thousands.

LinkedIn isnt really a social network for me, its rather you state your past work and current work only then to get invited to 6 sessions of coding reviews.

Twitch is a entertainment platform ( like youtube ), not social media.
