I’m not a fan of the “whataboutism” that’s bound to pop up in these replies. I like Walz quite a bit, but he got caught in a lie and it’s good to call both sides on things like this. It reminds them that we’re paying attention.

Vance is a soulless douche nozzle, but he’s a trained lawyer. I think he’ll hold his own just fine. I don’t think he’ll “beat” Waltz, but he’s probably not going to foam at the mouth over crowd sizes and pets being eaten.
In the end, does a VP debate matter?
I mean innocent until proven guilty and such, but this guy has always been a dope and should never have been elected. I still think Katherine Garcia would have been a better pick.
It’ll be interesting to see what clown the GOP runs against him this time. They could possibly have a decent chance (remember, NYC GOP is generally much more moderate than national level) but it’ll inevitably be some idiot who’s never done anything.
I wonder if he gets a primary challenger.
Also, if NYC were a country, it would be ranked 13th in GDP globally and THESE are the people we get to choose from to run it.
“Lol. These Haitians are wild. Eating pets, vudu, nastiest country in the western hemisphere, cults, slapstick gangsters… but damned if they don’t feel all sophisticated now, filing charges against our President and VP,” he said
But they’re not suing Biden and Harris who are, you know, our President and VP. They’re suing YOUR candidates because of THEIR dangerous rhetoric.
Why not just make the filibuster what it used to be and require the people who want to wield it to hold the floor for hours upon hours with no break? Some of it was silly. Some of it heroic. Either way, it required someone to truly be willing to stand behind their beliefs and, thus, was used much less often.
The headline is absolutely NOT overstating things.
From page 64 of the actual report:
- Politicization of Intelligence Products. This investigation revealed no evidence of politicization (roughly “write this analysis this way to support this political assertion”) 467 by anyone in the I&A chain of command or DHS Secretary’s office. However, Mr. Murphy did make other attempts to controvert the collection-analysis process. Particularly illuminative was the promulgation of the term “Violent Antifa Anarchists Inspired” (VAAI).
As discussed by several intelligence analysts, to understand the genesis for VAAl, one must take the events of the summer into context. In many conversations, Mr. Murphy stated that the violent protesters in Portland were connected to or motivated by ANTIFA. This may have made sense to Mr. Murphy based on his own beliefs, but 1&A did not have collections (evidence) to show it and absent reporting or some other evidence on motivation, 1&A analysts could not ascribe motivation to the violent actors as Mr. Murphy expected. Mr. Murphy would tell the analysts to cite to existing OSIRs as evidence of the motivation, but the OSIRs did not draw a connection to ANTIFA. For weeks, the analysts had been telling Mr. Murphy that because ANTIF A was not in the collection, it could not be put into the analysis. Notwithstanding this feedback from the I&A analysts, on July 25, 2020, Mr. Murphy sent an email to his senior leadership instructing them that henceforth, the violent opportunists in Portland were to be reported as VAAI, unless the intel "show[ed] … something different."468 The analysts stated that “if you lived through the process, you could see where this VAAI definition was coming from a mile away. He got tired of the analysts telling him they did not have the reporting and he was convinced it was ANTIFA so he was going to fix the problem by changing what the collectors were reporting.”
This is a pretty big fucking deal considering how much the GOP was crying about ANTIFA.
Majority of large union supports candidate who has been clearly against unions.
Makes sense.
Is her consistency an issue? What kind of nonsense headline is this?
It’ll never go anywhere but I’m absolutely in favor of it. Where it’s been used, it’s shown to move candidates more to the middle to attract both sides, thus reducing extremism.
I can’t imagine watching it and thinking he won. It’s almost like any democrat who thought Biden won the first one. You can try to find glimmers to grasp on to, but the reality is the oldest guy in each debate was made to look like a fool.
I think there are people who have conservative values which they believe are better for the country but also struggle with the thought of supporting Trump. For those people, last night’s debate probably pushed them further away from him. Some may go to Harris which is the hope.
I wish she would have invited those people directly in her closing statement. Something along the lines of “If you don’t agree with me, I’m hear to listen and understand why. Together, we can move forward instead of going back to chaos and anger and division “
I haven’t come across this thought before but, honestly, it’s very plausible. The novelty is well worn off and his opponents have had plenty of time to adapt while he continues to run the same plays. So, the public isn’t paying as much attention and his opponents are much better prepared to counter.
None of us should ever take these seriously. We need to encourage people to vote as though our lives depend on it (because, in some ways, they do)
Shaun Fain held the line and got his union significant raises. He’s anything but stupid.
That said, I wonder how many members of the union will vote for Trump even though he actively works against their best financial interests.
The website tricks users into thinking they’ve just registered to vote. Fuck this guy.
But he’s always had control over the narrative in the media and he’s starting to lose it because his opponent is now much more coherent than he is.
This guy is losing his mind and I love watching the melt down.
I think it’s a healthy balance, on the ticket, that helps reach those purple states more.
I can’t understand the people who dislike her. My sisters don’t like her either and think she’s “dumb” but every time she speaks, she makes what seems to me to be well thought out, rational arguments.
lol looks like the campaign knew he couldn’t help but lie and he’d be made to look like a fool.
