He is not a far-right, misogynist, racist, homophobe, elitist, openly anti-democratic, bought-by-russia rapist, liar and traitor who wears most of those traits very openly.
Joe Biden does not stand in the way of democratic processes. I assure you, he won’t falsely claim voter fraud or incite an insurrection if he loses the election. Trump has done that in the past. He’s also proven to be a liar and a rapist. Besides, elitism does not make a dictator. While dictators usually are elitist, in actuality, they define themselves through a totalitarian regime aka them being able to do as they wish without consequences. Something Trump and his Supporters have also claimed they want. Very recently.
And sure, Biden might not make politics for everyone and he most definitely is not the best man for the job, but he doesn’t just make politics for rich white men as Trump does, who, for example, wants to undo anything the Obama and later the Biden administration did for social security, healthcare, etc. You know, the structures average people profit most of. Those who are not the “elite”. Not to speak about Trump’s and the Republican Party’s stance on various minorities.
And Hitler also was a dictator, something orange hitler desperately wants to be.
The 970 works for encoding h.264 only. My recommendation: If you have a 7th Gen Intel CPU with iGPU or later, use that. Otherwise, sell the 970 and get one of these (in this order):
The Intel Card has the best encoder, followed by Nvidia Turing, then Pascal. I recently sold my 970 and got a 1050 Ti for the same price. Works great with Jellyfin. If you need to tone map HDR, you probably shouldn’t get anything with much lower performance than that. If it’s just some UHD to HD or h.265 to h.264 for compatibility, even the P400 will work well.
A few reasons.
For one, storing multiple versions of the same film takes up a lot of storage, which is more expensive than a cheap 40€ gpu for transcoding. And I definitely wanna keep the highest quality I can. Besides transcoding on the fly is more flexible, ensuring the best possible quality at any time, instead of having to pick between the good and the shit version.
And secondly, usually I only need transcoding when I don’t watch on my home setup (or when some friends watch on my server). My upload isn’t as high as some of my film’s bitrates and some clients do not support h.265 or HDR thus needing transcoding and/or tonemapping.

Which is fair, I suppose, if you really only have one SATA port left. Then a RAID 1 through that device might work well enough. Wouldn’t be my first choice though… and definitely not for RAID 0. Not that RAID 0 should be anyone’s first choice, nowadays.

If Linux supported all that proprietary software that I need (or am used to using), I’d have switched already… And in my gaming machine, I’ll be switching, if Linux finally supports HDR
Yes and no. USB-C is “the faster connector” compared to USB-A 3 because it supports faster protocols like USB 4 and even Thunderbolt 5. USB-A does not. It tops out at USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (gawd what an awful naming scheme) with 20Gbps and even that’s rare. The newer, faster protocols with 40Gbps (USB4) or even 120Gbps (TB5) need the USB-C connector.
Yes, but with arch you have to because you have to set it up yourself. In all seriousness, arch is a great base but unless you have the patience and knowledge to set it up yourself, staying with arch based distros (like Manjaro) is much easier. And if you’re new to Linux in general but actually wanna try it, start with something like Mint. It’s fast, stable, easy to work with and this a good entry point
Cost? A USB-A 3.0 connector is probably a few cents cheaper than a B 3.0 connector
