  • This article is crazy it is just covering major newsworthy stuff in like a paragraph because it is the GOP and they are much more organized on messaging

Trump told reporters at the White House Tuesday afternoon that he’s in favor of shutdown-related RIFs to the federal workforce, and that “when you shut it down, you have to do layoffs.”

“We’d be laying off a lot of people that are going to be very affected,” Trump said. “They’re going to be Democrats.”

“A lot of good can come down from shutdowns,” he added. “We can get rid of a lot of things that we didn’t want.”

    And

A mass email assigning blame to congressional Democrats is an unusual step for agencies to take ahead of a funding lapse, and marks an escalation in rhetoric.

Aka they are telling us they are firing a lot of Democrat employees but it’s okay.

  • I kinda feel like I’m taking crazy pills* I’m seeing examples of dictatorship left and right, six months after taking office, and mostly all I really see are jokes and team cheering or jeering.

A journalist was fired for speaking against a person in political power. Not only that, the offense was just calling someone hateful. Meanwhile slurs and hateful dehumanizing names and actual made up diagnosis are used to put down anyone critical of anyone in the current administration that is currently in Trump’s good graces.

*I’m aware that we are humans giving knee jerk reactions, and often these posts are a form of stress relief. It doesn’t stop me from feeling like Chicken Little

I also just wanna add this journalist has some fantastic writing skills and damn now I wanna look up his entire career. I hope someone snatches him up and I’m really proud and heartened to see a public figure face the consequences of standing up to fascism and still hold their head high. To publicly say they stand by their statements and not apologize.

  • Weird I didn’t see the second half of your comment when I first replied. You’re absolutely right and I’m terrified. The social-political environment and economy that allowed the rise of the nazis in Germany have been happening in America for decades. There are so many parallels and then within 6 months in office a LOT of big stuff is happening really fast. Federal institutions completely gutted, harassment of the employees by their government, deportation of citizens, removing birthright citizenship, and now wanting a medical diagnosis for anyone who disagrees with them.

It is absolutely terrifying and I no longer feel safe sharing my opinion anywhere because I don’t know how dangerous it will be in the future.
