It’s human nature!
why would you take anything you see on the internet seriously?
It’s human nature!
Lemmy has a serious sourcing issue, just across the board.
Yeah, don’t call it “surge pricing” just call it scam gouging.
If the American car companies focused on their own viability they wouldn’t have this problem. Instead they focused on making the electrification process a premium luxury while the Chinese made it as affordable as possible.
You guys realize that the server rules regionally only apply regionally, and not globally right? If you don’t like the rules of your nation state it’s very easy to move your hosting elsewhere where the rules you are trying to avoid are not going to apply.
Just because India has some massive breaking sweeping law doesn’t really change anything about our other servers if they are just not in that jurisdiction. Lemmy.ca is not going down for Indian rules, because we’re hosted in Canada. Lemmy.ml I would imagine is also not hosted in India.
The fediverse is not even big enough (we’re about the size cumulatively of like a medium subreddit) to really want to actively police.
It’s like saying Iran or anywhere else in the Middle East has powerful internet control, as if that’s going to change literally anything hosted outside of those incredibly repressive nations. Unless India has some agreement with other states long-term to remove content they disagree with, literally nothing is going to change. I know North American sentiment towards India is not strong these days because of the recent assassinations (and/or attempts) within our borders of Sikh “extremists”.
Fediverser looks like a project that’s supposed to ease the onboarding process from reddit, looks like you can sign up with a reddit account to have access to Lemmy, but I am not entirely sure.
I don’t really mind the size of the community these days; I feel like if we start getting more and more people from reddit we’re going to get the people we wanted to avoid by leaving the place. Right now it feels like there’s not a ton of content, but there’s a decent amount of discussion, and it’s of high quality. I feel like an easier entrance to the platform is going to degrade the experience, as shitty as that sounds.
I had the same problem with lemmit.online, and with lemmit.online the owner said “yeah this is a bot, this whole instance is for reddit reposts, if you don’t like it defederate from me” - which .ca did.
I can’t stand bot instances or bots in general that are reposting from reddit, because it’s not valuable content for the fediverse - the OP doesn’t see what we’re saying and if we’re troubleshooting something that’s been crossposted it’s literally just on deaf ears.
The only bot I actually like is the ITNBot which is for ImproveTheNews - it posts neutral, pro-, and anti-stance information relevant to the article being posted, showing you all sides of the issue.
Sunak only respects his funders.
The guy was jailed for being a serial rapist and they literally just didn’t keep track of him. That’s insane. I understand how people can slip through the system in the past given that forensics wasn’t as good, but this has no excuse because he was literally imprisoned for the exact crimes he’d go on to continue to commit.
You can buy a copy of Pro on a key reseller for like 20 bucks, I would highly recommend doing so.
Remmina should cover your use cases, as it has options for many protocols including RDP. I use Remmina on my Linux machines and all my Windows machines just use RDP since they are all pro.
Remmina, since it’s using RDP, should be able to connect with no monitor.
Funny implication that .ml users are not dramatic.
Sure, we can argue the semantics of it being the wrong word, but I would argue that a car can be an investment. A necessary way to get to and from work. Even if it’s ultimately a money pit that devalues the second you drive it off the lot, it’s a required part of living in a lot of North America. Don’t blame me for 100 years of suburban sprawl and steady dismantling of any decent mass transit.
So no, it’s not that I don’t know what the word means, it’s maybe that we have a different understanding of the value of a car as an integral part of mobility based on our different geographies. If I want to do anything, I have to get on the highway. I’m sure if you want to do something you can walk down a few blocks to the high street.
Hyundais and Kias literally have the defect of exploding into fire. The manufacturers say not to park indoors. That’s a great reason not to invest in one of their machines.
I’ll take a broken third party integration any day over an unsafe car.
There are worse reasons to not buy an automobile, but lack of app integration is probably the silliest reason I’ve seen so far.
Privacy issues, subscriptions for basic features, removal of physical buttons in favor of janky touch screens…the list is endless and you guys settled on the app not working on a 3rd party system as the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

The Mazda app allowed you to track the location of the automobile, turn it on and off remotely, activate hazard lights, and lock/unlock from the HA integration.
Most of what I used it for was to see where my dad had taken my car with the GPS tracker. Sometimes I would fuck with him and turn on the hazards.
I have it installed on Arch (running an Nvidia GPU) and it works flawlessly connecting to my main Windows machine.
You can enable REBAR on older machines with a UEFI hack.
It’s been part of the PCI spec for ages but Nvidia and AMD only started using it recently.
You can check out the tool here.
