Really needs to be a “DUUUUHHHH” community for stories like this.

The first part I’m not against, means-testing benefit programs makes them more susceptible to being destroyed through small cuts here and there because not everyone benefits in the first place. If democrats actually wanted to win, they could respond with “we shouldn’t discriminate, let’s make the benefit universal, you just need to use a childcare center who accepts our rate.”

How much do you want to bet that tightening licenses for childcare providers is a nonstarter for republicans because it would mean shutting down virtually all church-based childcare centers?

But there’s a fuckton of wealthy influential people who probably had already spent a lot of money keeping Epstein silent and would take the opportunity to keep him from cutting any kind of deal (like, throwing every democrat and non-loyal republican under the bus while swearing Trump had no idea about the girls.) Plenty of those people have the money to hire a prison guard to engineer a dead camera and a “suicide” and do it in a way that was deniable.

Jesus, I completely missed that he had been murdered. Just heartbreaking, he seemed like a genuinely good person as well as making some of the movies that defined my childhood.

MSN saying “the reality is more complex” when talking about trump insisting prices are coming down is insulting. Just say he’s wrong. Or lying, but at least “wrong” if you’re afraid of a lawsuit.

Well, I have kids so getting them gifts, and a nice dinner with them and their mom (she and I are still friends and good co-parents, just not good spouses to each other.)

Except that people who have not acted on it and are seeking support in continuing to not act on it are afraid of identifying themselves as pedophiles because the association, even amongst mental health professionals, is with the action and not the thoughts.

Yeah, hopefully.

There’s a really strong argument to be made that regardless of personal beliefs, seeking that kind of power is inherently untrustworthy. But until we have a national legislature draft we have to rely on the evidence we have that people are going to do good things in office.

I mean, that looks like an air traffic control tower, so there may very well be people in there. Just not “tenants” in the strictest sense.
