You’re right, but also, at the moment their effort to do that hinges on an absolute moron.

Again, I already addressed the violence approach. Does nobody read the full comment?
You say that like it’s a defined thing that will keep a president in check. SCOTUS rules on constitutionality. Are you really that confident that they’ll keep Trump in line if he gets another term and starts really getting to work? The road to fascism isn’t paved with goods intentions, it’s paved with mealy mouthed, two faced decisions like this that give more and more leeway until it’s too late to take back.
I already commented on Biden’s willingness to enact violence on his political rivals.
Biden definitely needs to make a move here, but I don’t see that working. There’s a difference between “the POTUS is immune from criminal liability”, and “the POTUS has the power to alter the government as they choose”, at least, there is for a President that isn’t going to enforce their changes with violence, which Biden hasn’t shown any sign of being.
Perhaps there’s a way to swing this new legal freedom in a way that does something like that, I’m not smart enough to figure that out. I do at least know that, if this isn’t addressed A fucking SAP, then the US is in some serious trouble.
Seymour is a good dog. Rudy’s a human shaped sack of shit.
Dumbass literally tried to make it happen when he demanded testing slow down.
“When you do testing to that extent, you’re going to find more people, you’re going to find more cases,” Trump said. “So I said to my people, ‘Slow the testing down, please.’ They test and they test.”
Can’t trust a person like that around percocet, but nuclear codes are a-ok!
Let’s be honest, no one that still believes that will have this news penetrate their propaganda silos, and what bits do get through will just be ignored or dismissed. They need to believe what they do, and will bend over backwards to justify those beliefs.
A lot of them care, they just like that he does it. It legitimizes their own shittiness.
Is anything “fundamentally disqualifying”? It appears to me that nothing is. It’s all honor code bullshit that only works when everyone is acting in good faith.
The scourge of single-issue voters. The party spits in their face, but it’s all ok if they “support” the right thing.
One, fatigue isn’t about forgetting, it’s about not caring. Second, more than one problem can exist at once.
I’m not gonna pretend he deserves anyone’s pity or that you should change your opinion here, but acting like 18 is some magic age where someone is suddenly completely responsible and free of childish impulses/problems is ridiculous. Society may need to set an age for accountability in a legal sense, but socially, humans just don’t work that way.
Bikes and public transport use the roads…
Thankfully that’s not how the US works. You don’t just get to deport citizens because you don’t like them. Exiling “undesirables” is what the bad guys do, not the good ones.
No, it doesn’t make sense.
People can be hateful of their own race or culture. Not saying Bernie is, but it’s far from an impossibility.
It’s movie studio accounting.
“Only”. This is exactly why they issued such a nebulous decision, so people like you will say, “Look! It’s not actually unlimited!” The only act they give any specific answer for is the president’s right to prosecute anyone they want without justification, which they say is a-ok. Everything else they sent back to the district courts, not to “shove it up his ass”, but because they are the “court of final review and not first view”. In other words, they’ll deem it all “official acts” later, when (they hope) Trump is in office and this pony show won’t matter anymore.
