  • Pardon me for checking your post history, but I noticed you’ve posted in the Canada community and therefore you might be Canadian. Is it possible you’ve been eating more local fruit this year due to boycotts? I wonder if there’s some relation.

I noticed my Ontario blueberries were very sweet this year, compared to the imported ones I’ve had in the past that could be somewhat bitter or tart. I have no evidence if this is a reason why they’re sweeter though, I’m just guessing.

  • Then either your boss or yourself are shit at managing workloads properly. If you can’t take 10min it’s too much work for you.

I mean the whole point is for them to extract value from me which I understand. Where I’m from we have designated break time in the work day. It’s not that I don’t get any breaks, but an additional 10 minutes per hour would certainly have a noticeable impact. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you mean by a “pause” - I’m not firing on all cylinders the entire time, that’s for sure.

You think you’re special and can’t get burnt out? May I ask if you’re over 30 yet?

I didn’t say I was special. I meant that my calendar is not jam-packed, thankfully. It’s maybe 1 or 2 reminders per day at most, for short tasks that I need remember to do at certain times. In fact these tasks tend to be even easier and less taxing than regular work, and using the calendar as a reminder means that I’m not committing any brain power to remember them which helps too. I have experienced burnout at a previous job and this is nowhere close. I do appreciate your concern though.

  • If I took a 10 minute pause every hour I would fall behind in my work and that would be overwhelming. Most of the reminders I’m setting are for super short tasks to check if something is complete because it’s urgent for whatever reason.

I agree that having a calendar jam-packed all the time would be a recipe for burnout, but in my case it makes it easier to stay on track with certain things, and just work normally the other 95% of the time.

  • I know a bit. I took music courses all through highshcool. Also did some free self-taught courses when learning guitar which taught me modes. I struggle with identifying chords in a key by ear, but note intervals are pretty easy.

For me theory hasn’t been all that helpful beyond a basic understanding and knowing what others are talking about, and I’ve encountered a lot of people who seem to get hung up on theory details in situations where I would just trust my ears.

  • You’re letting AI do it though?

Ditch that and make your own songs. You let AI create your melody, robbing you of one of the many joys of making music, and arguably the whole point - expressing yourself. You’re just cleaning up the mess it spit out.

Making music isn’t easy. It’s a skill that takes time to develop, often years. Expect to be bad at it for a while, but know that you will improve over time. It’s extremely rewarding. With experience you may be able to make this turd shine, but more likely you won’t need to because you can do better with your own skill starting from scratch.

I’ll ask again, what are you trying to do? Do you want to make your own beats to rap on, or maybe make a soundtrack for an indie game? Think about that and analyze the music that inspires you, learn from it, emulate it, pick up on their techniques. If you can come back with specific questions about music production then people will be happy to help you. This post is like complaining that the easy way out isn’t as easy as you expected.
