Oooooof yeah I didn’t even think about the fact that instance might fuck up the user account number statistics. Ugh. I don’t think that’s a lemmy thing, that’s an alien.top thing.

Idk if this was wonky kbin federation or spam to start shit but posting it three times in a row isn’t going to lead to more people biting the bait
Let it happen organically. It will happen in waves.
I think for a shitpost instance a custom ad network banner ads with memes and shitposts would be make sense. What I mean by that is that on geocities as well as some small internet sites there’s “custom ad networks” where they basically rely on donations and or just random people submitting “ads” that normally tend to be just links to their site, weird obscure memes, animal pictures, etc.
I think real ads for the sake of advertising on lemmy wouldn’t really be acceptable in any form, but shitposting ads have potential imo
Are you able to renew the SSL certificate? It appears to be expired.
I can vouch for slrpnk.net. Their staff team is fantastic and extremely proactive in engaging on matters pertaining to user safety.
What reasons are they uncomfy and is there any way we can make women safer here? Not sealioning, being genuine. I try my best to make my instance as inclusive and welcoming as possible and would love to know if there’s anyway I could improve. I honestly would go as far to say there’s a pretty high ratio of women on literature.cafe compared to other small niche focused instances, but I don’t have any actual statistics to gauge from to say definitively.
It should be noted, it is likely coming to lemmy specifically soon.
Bored and sleepy. I’m so glad it’s Friday.
Chill with the FUD. As a web host there have been far more cases of random web hosts doors being busted down by the feds for hosting copyrighted material than CSAM they had no reasonable knowledge of.
Yes. They can stress test it if it is not under tight lock and key. It is why these databases are so heavily guarded and every new user for it are heavily vetted.
Yes. But only if you are in the US and get an API key from NCMEC. They are very protective of who gets the keys and require a zoom call as well. There is hope cloudflare will integrate with other countries database as well but we will see. There is also active discussion of deals to provide hash scanning software to fediverse instances more easily as well.
Absolutely but this is a good basis to work from.
Mmmmm that’s unlikely. We would see lots of social media websites go down if that was the case.
It likely is, horribly optimized mess of a software right now
Right now all images are cached by default, even external ones. A copy is downloaded into pictrs. A fix is being worked on to disable that very very soon soon. It was being worked on before this due to storage cost issues ballooning long term but yeah.
And that is completely understandable. Everyone has their own risk tolerance like @expatriado@lemmy.world said. The removal of caching remote images is coming soon, like most likely days away from release into lemmy. And although it is not the only tool we need it is a step in the right direction.
Lemmy.ml has a slur filter and might be limiting whatever the hell you’re trying to say, regardless. Chill.
You can view the community’s modlog you are trying to post to see if you have been banned. What community are you trying to post in?
Just a bunch of Japanese script kiddies targetting the fediverse and its network for some reason. There’s active measures being taken and thankfully many instances are monitoring it pretty well.
