I find Boost for lemmy to work really well for me. I also use Voyager as a backup.

I have tried Buyvm when I was getting into selfhosting during the pandemic.
They were pretty cheap too, not sure about the pricing these days but you should take a look.
Recently I have started using this app called Nightwave Plaza. It has a surprisingly good selection of chill music that I can play in the background.
I usually use audiobookbay.
I want to thank you so much for suggesting this. I’m almost caught up with all the episodes of the podcast and I’m hooked. I just wish I had the time to follow up each episode with supplementary reading.
P.S: sorry for necroposting !
I was super interested in getting a job in cybersec, especially red team. But unfortunately no one wanted a fresher like me when I graduated.
Then things led to one another and I found myself working as a web developer. I’d still jump to a good cybersec job if I ever land one.
I’m in India. Everyone I talk to just recommend either working as a developer or working abroad.
They do have a reason for saying this though. The average electrician , plumber and carpenter that they know are all make enough to survive but not enough to lead a lavish lifestyle. People who work in waste management and transport usually make even less than electricians and plumbers.
Maybe things are changing these days, I’ll have to talk to the right people to get a better idea…
If you don’t mind, what set of skills got you employed ?
Also watermelon sugar.
I wish there was an active philosophy community on lemmy. I kinda miss r/Askphilosophy and r/askhistorians.
And to answer your question -
I don’t really know. I guess people belive in souls so as to eternalize themselves and thereby reducing their fear of death, knowing that their soul will be out somewhere instead of the idea that they will return to a state of nothing.
I guess it’s because a lot of local news channels and personalities still use twitter.
I don’t seem to recollect any movie at the moment but here are some TV shows or anime -
Mr. Robot - one of my favourite TV shows, most people using lemmy might have already watched it.
Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu - its about a very lonely middleschool kid’s romance
Koe no Katachi - very popular anime movie. Also one of my favourites.
Bocchi the Rock - Anime about an extremly introverted girl wanting to play guitar in a highschool band.
Re-Life - its an anime about a grown up guy getting a chance to re-live his high-school days as part of a experiment or something like that. It was pretty good.
Lookism - its a Manhwa, but also has an anime. Basically the main character gets 2 bodies mysteriously. The original body is the ugly one which people bully him for and the second body is like that of a (male) kpop artist which people view differently.
Death’s game - it’s a kdrama I recently watched. Although it doesn’t exactly fit in with the theme of ‘lonlieness’ I thought I’d mention it.
P.S - some shows I mentioned here might not be as loneliness inducing as you think.
+1 for NHK ni yokoso. It also touches on social awkwardness and things like that as well.
Overall a very good watch.
Fighting street thugs in the Yakuza games. The man can’t even walk peacefully for 2 mins.
The problem is even worse with Yakuza 7. The RPG fighting mechanic makes me feel like fighting is a chore. To add to that, you cant even run away from these fights.
I use feeder on my phone too. What feeds do you like to follow ?
Mine is probably oatmeal.
Put half a cup of instant oatmeal, some nuts, peanut butter and a banana in the blender and pour some milk.
I usually put in the refrigerator and eat it in the morning.
For sweetening You can also use dates or maple syrup instead of sugar.
Not a movie, but I remember trying to do kamehameha when I was 8 years old or something after watching Dragon ball Z.
For the longest time, I thought it was me who was causing the problems. I started becoming careful about what I say. And as an unintentional result I became aware of what, why and how they speak.
I still consider some situations from an AITA perspective. But I may be biased towards myself. I will take your advice on posting in an AITA community and get some different perspectives.
Thanks for commenting !
It is possible that this is the case with him. Since he is not good with secrets and will definitely talk behind my back, I stopped sharing anything personal with him. He also digs up such topics from long back and uses it as part of his attack. He probably hates me because I do not share anything personal with him anymore.
Well nowadays I control what I share with the group. wouldn’t want any unnecessary arguments over some silly shit.
I’d love to read up on topics like “breaking illusion of control” you mentioned. Please do suggest if you know any good articles or books that touch on this matter.
Some sort of journaling really helps when you feel like you have no direction. You can turn back the pages and see what path you took and even identify some ideas or values you want to implement in your life moving forwards. I recommend a notebook instead of a digital notes app.
This is a habit that I formed fairly recently 3-4 years ago I think. Initially I was writing down on smaller notepads which tend to get filled up quickly. Now I use a dotted notebook, so that I can draw something if I need to (although unruled notebooks also work)
Don’t obsess over decorating it like the bullet journal folks do on YouTube/Instagram and if you are thinking of using apps like obsidian or logseq - don’t go too far down the rabbit hole , just write down something instead.
You can have something like tasks.org for todos (organize your day) and a physical notebook to develop a vision (get some direction in your life)
