I don’t think they had the option as the minority.
But they should have voted for McCarthy. I knew that was gonna blow up in everyone’s face. Why did they think they were gonna end up with anyone better?

The moderates refused to vote for the other nut jobs. Did they just get tired or bored or something?
You absolutely choose to be a member of the House of Representatives and the Democratic Party. Way more so than most parents choose to have kids. It can be shockingly easy to have a kid, but it’s a bit of A Thing to be elected to the House.
Lol. As an adult myself, I have yet to give up even though my kids have been acting like children for years now. You’re not actually that responsible if it’s only in small bursts when you feel like it.
It’s not a good look and they should have left him in. They are supposed to be the adults who do what’s best for the country, and instead of leaving a guy in place who has shown at least some inclination to break with the nut jobs and do what’s right, they are letting the entire chamber shut down until who knows when and some equivalent or worse republican is stood up in his place.
Yeah, that’s why I didn’t like it. I just couldn’t buy the premise that Oppenheimer was some kind of martyr because he got his security clearance revoked and couldn’t use a free house anymore. The producers had to go out of their way to ignore an interesting story and focus on boring hearings and unimportant nonsense.
What are you talking about? If he goes, Ukraine loses an ally.
About that last sentence though…
Yeah, it’s wrong to frame it is a “can’t we all get along thing”. People are moving for health, safety and general well-being.
Saying that austerity is always bad is pretty dumb too. Economic policy is hard. It’s not a simple as shoving one lever in one direction as far as possible forever.
For example, “austerity” could mean ending corporate subsidies, taxing the wealthy, auditing the wealthy, reducing the military budget, canceling freeway expansions, etc. Too much public debt can absolutely be a bad thing and needs to be controlled.
How did Trump “engage in insurrection” though? He said some firey stuff to a rally, then didn’t stop it when it was happening, but that’s all I know about.
