I’m not so sure that’s what this is…at least at this time. The lower tiers according to the article are still a perpetual license but the support/updates will be an optional extra after 1 year. Current customers won’t be effected and they have a tier that completely avoids this.
I’m not thrilled by it, but in comparison Fusion360 went from 70 a month to 85 a month without any real reason and this doesn’t seem like the same can of bullshit.
Depending on your transcoding needs you might not even need it for that.
I have a proxbox with a R5 4600G even under extreme loads the stock cooler is fine. Honestly once prox is setup you don’t need a GPU. The video output of proxmox is just a terminal (Debian) so as long as things are running normally you can do everything through the web interface even without the gpu. I do highly recommend a second GPU (either a G series CPU or a cheap GPU) if you want to try proxmox GPU passthrough. I’ve done it and can say it is extremely difficult to get working reliably with just a single GPU.
I’ll freely admit to skimming a bit but yes proxmox can run trunas inside of it. Proxmox is powerful but might be a little frustrating to learn at first. For example by default proxmox expects to use the boot drive for itself and it’s not immediately clear how to change that to use that disk for other things.
The noctua dh-15 is overkill for that cpu btw unless you’re doing an overclock which I wouldn’t recommend for server use. What’s your plans for the 1060? If using proxmox you’ll want to get one of the “G” series AMD CPUs do that proxmox binds to the apu and then you should be able to do gpu passthrough on the 1060.
Half the battle with headphones tends to be isolation. If you have decent sounding speakers but bad isolation you have mediocre at best headphones. Typically replacing the ear cups can be an option but adding speakers likely won’t yield additional quality. Unfortunately if the speakers that already are in the headphones aren’t up to snuff there won’t be a whole lot you can do. It’s important to make sure we’re talking about the actual headphones though and not the audio amplifier or the source audio.
I have the regular arkfeld and it’s been a solid ass flashlight. I mean it is always ready, takes a beating, shrugs off water (even underwater) worth every penny. I kinda want to get the one with a UV light instead of the laser I currently have.

Yeah I just deployed an unraid server for someone so this isn’t fantastic news…but alternatives exist if/when shit happens.
