  • I’m 100% genuine. Let’s do a role-call on the issues I care about for this person.

    • ending the genocide in Gaza: no opinion ❌
    • trans rights: against ❌
    • climate change: no opinion ❌
    • workers rights: no plan ❌
    • immigration rights: mild reform from trumpism ❌
    • universal healthcare: pro ✅
    • public transit: pro ✅

Dr King wasn’t advocating for people to elect the centrist either. He supported nonviolent direct action. He supported the Chicano movement and labor movements too, because he knew the answer wasn’t in electoralism.

You want an answer to your question? I’ve already given it to you. Pressure them to do better. Committing to vote for one side because the other is worse incentivises the ruling class to further entrench themselves and move further right. That’s what decades of “lesser evil” has gotten us. Now is the time to be pressuring them.

“Not actively worse” is called stagnation, not “actually good”. It fucking sucks. It doesn’t benefit us. Status quo means that trans people are going to die. That is not good, even if things don’t get worse. We are not your volleyball in the game of politics,

    WE ARE PEOPLE

  • To quote Martin Luther King Jr:

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

  • We’re passed the primary, but the election hasn’t occurred yet. Occupy their meetings and be disruptive until they admit they’re wrong, or conduct direct action that openly defies the laws they want to make.

Regardless of who wins, I lose rights. My fight hasn’t changed, just one person pretends to be confused why trans people are upset, and the other is gleeful. If my fight doesn’t change regardless of who wins, why vote at all?

I can hear the screeching from here. I have multiple fights going on; all of which Republicans are always against, and Democrats are at best tepid. Voting is the least effective means of change, it barely matters outside of a single day every 2 years, and even then only some of the people taking away my rights will be replaced. Voting isn’t even good enough when it goes exactly right for us in that moment.
