while it meets the criteria of not being American news it definitely does NOT meet the other criteria.

Journalistic integrity is important and I personally won’t degrade it by saying my biased community is unbiased. Be a better journalist.

Your friend should only support methods that they would be ok with happening to them. Otherwise your friend is a hypocrite :)

The few users who have created accounts in my instance are thrilled with the direct support they get from me and my co-admin. I imagine that their original instance was something of a mill where they were treated like nuisances. It’s one of the things I love about being an admin, is the ability to protect people who would otherwise be ignored

I believe so! It looks like your instance was added and guaranteed on fediseer, and now shows up on Lemmy Federate

My instance doesn’t have many users and we were guaranteed & added as well. I think it’s a pretty painless process for most folks.

The only thing I would keep in mind is changing your site config or domain name could affect federation with other instances
