I think it’s funny they’ll probably paint this as him being a bigger target because Chaaaaina wants Harris to win. But we know it’s probably because his people are inept and Harris (and probably DNC, and Dems in general) probably receive more attention and just don’t open malicious emails as often.

Seriously, we don’t need a extra layer of inaction on top of a government already designed to move slowly. That’s the whole point of having three branches of government, you already have to compromise even without the filibuster unless you sweep (and at this point a sweep is well deserved!).

I’m not even sure if the electorate is in a place to address issues in education and healthcare, haha. But unfortunately I agree; I think Dems are right because it’s clear other nations don’t have this problem (even with their same unhappy societies) but making only incremental gains with gun control shows that it can’t be done right now.

But I wouldn’t necessarily go with root causes as first priority. If they could fix election issues like gerrymandering and the electrical college, urban centers would have a fair say and might push harder on gun regulation when voices are heard on equal level. If I had a majority, that’s what I’d hit first to make the rest easier.

In LA, my situation was mostly playing video games at friends’ homes after school. I’ve taken buses since I was in middle school, though, and had a key to my home. That said, my dad is and was an abusive alcoholic, so I generally stayed out as long as possible.

Mind you, how unsafe the city is isn’t really true in many neighborhoods, especially if you’re with other teens. You can always hang out at various locations like malls, parks, the beach, library or at school. You have a lot of options in the city, especially if you’re willing to take a bus or bike places. I had friends who volunteered for Heal the Bay, for instance.

My HOA is badass because it’s really just one paranoid nice lady who lets literally anyone know if a trunk is open or if someone suspicious entered, etc. I’d complain about privacy but who the fuck hangs out in hallways?

But they had a nightmare prior to me moving here. Long story short, the former board member ran a slip & fall legal case against herself which paid out to the tune of 4 million. The insurance company refused to fight it (despite the lack of evidence) and instead settled immediately, recouping their costs by raising the building’s costs four fold.

This resulted in high HOA fees while that lady just fucking bought a house and left. Her sister sticks around, though, and on multiple occasions, stolen cars have been in our garage in their spot or in the guest spot as their “guest”.

Now that I said the last part, that’s still happening and I change my answer to that also being my nightmare HOA situation. Lol

I mean, 1 is more of a pledge as I understand so it wouldn’t be guaranteed that they donate the full amount planned. I just suspect that they ultimately would, though, given it’s their cause. But I agree that it is more of a gimmick to secure more funding.

Then again, so are walk-a-thons and other fund raising events. If you believe in a cause, it shouldn’t matter. I once waited tables for a rich person’s wine tasting fund raiser, and that was a gimmick too. Had raffles and entertainment, etc. Good cause for some kind of illness research, although I only volunteered my time because I had a crush on a girl. That was stupid, of course, but I was 18 so, yeah.

Guys talking out of his ass; the donation match is indeed rich people who agree ahead of time and ultimately plan on donating the whole amount anyway, or at least a chunk. Iirc, they sign away X amount of dollars and the campaign leverages that for the 4x or 8x and so forth. Usually it’s a few hundred or even thousands of pledge donors, though

I think of it sort of like those walk-a-thon donations by the mile. You pledge knowing you’ll probably be out a few miles but know it could be more or less… And usually when it’s less, you donate a bit more later anyway.

That said, be mindful of scams. I saw one offering 20x pledge but the link looked phony.
