  • I don’t think people are “refusing”

I know a few people who have no reason NOT to learn to drive, but just don’t and instead mooch off everyone else.

My folks had a falling out with a couple they’d been friends with for ages because they refused to get their licence… But then expected them to come and pick them up from the train station when they were invited to dinner, spent most of the night telling everyone how smart they are for not having a car, and then expecting a lift back to the train station. Having just spent a couple of hours banging on about how much financially better off they were, I saw it as essentially stealing to then demand someone else use their asset and running costs to carry them around for free.

My sister in law finally got her licence at 30-something after a couple of decades constantly harassing family members for a ride.

  • How is disabling (or deleting) an account going to help?

I found it easy to stop participating on Reddit. Every time I went to post I was reminded that all I’m doing is adding value to some piece of shit shareholder who actively wants me gone because I don’t mindlessly scroll the front page (old.reddit and adblock). Why do anything on there when it’s just to make someone else rich?

And Reddit made it easy for me to not even look when I’m on mobile by killing third party apps. If I can’t RiF then I choose no Reddit at all.

  • I found it many years ago. 15-20ish? I have no idea where I found it, but I’ve not seen it used anywhere else so I kind of just keep using it.

Don’t really know what I bother since I use a client that doesn’t display profile pictures anyway.

My other avatar I use gets me banned on most forums because apparently a clip from “nuts in the ass” is not suitable for public display anymore. It’s political correctness gone mad tbh.

  • Once upon a time, Swype / FlexT9 / whatever other names it’s had on Android used to have an option to bring up a virtual D pad in the keyboard area. It was really easy to swap to as well, and being able to flip over to a functional set of arrow keys (as well as select, copy, paste, etc) made text editing so much easier.

Like all things I used to enjoy about Android, it got removed in the name of copying Apples simplicity.
