  • Brazil and South Korea were able to handle these situations without this pissing around “wE hAvE tO fOlLoW tHe pRoCeSs” because their processes actually fucking worked

Brazil and South Korea followed due process and rule of law as written in their constitutions.

The problem with the US is that due process and rule of law weren’t followed faithfully, which is in no small part due to the 6/3 conservative Scotus throwing their sycophantic fuckery into the mix.

You can criticize the actual issue, which is that the US’s legal system favors the rich and that the Scotus is corrupt. But if you want to focus on the fact that Biden didn’t break the law in order to save us from the law being broken, you’re gonna lose me.

You made various points that I don’t disagree with, but since you decided to pepper them with insults based on a misrepresentation of what I’m saying, I’m not going to bother engaging with them in any level of detail.

I will say however that Jack Smith did all he could in the time that he had. Major investigations don’t come together overnight, especially if you want to press charges that have a chance of sticking in court. The Supreme Court punted the decision on whether to allow prosecution to proceed. Don’t blame Jack Smith for doing all that anyone could have done, in a system that was already rigged against him.

  • My head isn’t in my ass. I’ve seen through it for years, and that’s why I did all I could to get people to see the danger leading up to 2024. It’s not my fault everyone decided to focus on the billion-dollar smear campaign against Biden instead of the very real danger of trump fascism.

It didn’t take people getting black bagged and abducted for me to wake up, so direct your ire elsewhere.

How many peoples lives need to be ruined so you can feel smugly superior?

I don’t feel smugly superior. I’m distraught at what’s happening. Quite enough lives have already been ruined, and I’m frustrated with my powerlessness to do anything about it.

But if you want to attack me because I say people should have voted against trump even if they had to hold their noses while they were doing it, or because Biden shouldn’t have destroyed the democratic process in an attempt to save it, whatfuckingever. Stop trying to blame me for what’s happening.

My darker side would have reveled in conservatives getting what’s coming to them. It would be the most satisfying if they were given due process and their rights were respected while they were being tried, convicted, and sentenced for their very real crimes. That’s what should have happened.

A part of me would love to say that all that should have been thrown out the window and the threats to democracy should have been hunted down and eliminated by any means possible, but my rational side tells me that once that precedent is set there’s no going back, and that the very act would necessitate further measures and more drastic measures, until it starts to effect people who weren’t legitimate threats to democracy.

And humanity’s rational nature is what gives us the capability in engaging in civil society and democratic processes. It’s what enabled us to develop systems of society which, at least nominally, acknowledge things like human rights and limitations of powers. If we throw all that out the window, we’re no more than animals.

Maga has thrown it all out the window, and they’re behaving like animals. They’re clearly the bad guys. So why don’t you direct your anger at them instead of the people who refuse to stoop to their level in some vain endeavor to oppose them.

If rationality, compassion, rule of law, civic order, and democratic processes don’t win, we all lose. It doesn’t matter who destroys them, even if it was your guy.

  • Harris was also very progressive on policy and appealed to conservatives in perception and people give her unending shit for it.

What fucking world do you live in? Harris’s policy was to pander to the centrists and “moderate right,” conservatives hated her because they thought she was a “radical leftist communist liberal,” whatever tf that means, and people gave her unending shit for being a milquetoast establishment corporate dem with no firm stance on any progressive agenda, and for supporting Israel.

Literally all three statements in your first sentence are the opposite of the truth.

Oh, and Cuomo was a pig who stood no chance against any decent candidate. The fact that he was an establishment corporate dem running against a progressive populist underdog in an election year favoring progressive politics was secondary to being a ghoul.

  • His message actively subverts the maga nationalist monopoly on the christian narrative.

He calls them out for what they are (hypocrites) and promotes a more genuine reading of scripture (in which Jesus was a woke socialist agitator with empathy for the marginalized and disenfranchised).

You’re not going to win back the christian vote (a significant bloc) from the far-right if you’re promoting this “christians can’t be leftist” narrative. That plays right into the far-right’s hands.

Also, he refuses AIPAC money so don’t call him a fucking zionist.

He’s literally one of the best things that could happen in Texas politics.

  • Well I was completely on board with doing everything we could to stop trump, but for some reason for a lot of people the line was drawn at actually voting. So yeah, trump is destroying the institutions of the US government and yeah, we’re all fucked. But if Biden destroyed those very same institutions in some “preemptive strike” against trump, we’d still be fucked. Either way, the system is broken. The only thing that would change is who broke the system, and trump could avoid looking like the bad guy while laying all the blame at Biden’s feet for taking the bait.

At least this way, what trump is doing is unprecedented. Its quite clear that he’s the one breaking the system, and even though he still tries to accuse Biden of everything he’s doing, people can at least see through it.
