Brother this is now, the laws apply to everyone, European or not. If a European illiegally immigrates now they will be deported.

Every illegal immigrant should be treated the same, regardless of race. You cannot break into the country.
You’re right, governments can do multiple things at once, like defunding critical support systems while adding hundreds to potentially thousands of people onto the streets. The “pandering” part of the government is saying they care and being a sanctuary city while not supporting them at all and letting them wallow on the streets. The murder rate is down from the historical high in 2021 but is still higher than pre pandemic and pre illegal immigrant crisis.
The values of a majority liberal constituency should still involve improving the safety and livability of the area. Having the illegal immigrants on the streets will lead to more crime and economic decline. Plus now they are wasting away on the streets and dying.
Yep, Canada was a colony of the UK at the time, they didn’t immigrate so much as move. You’ve also ignored my father being a first generation immigrant and going through the process legally a little over 20 years ago. There’s no excuse to being an illegal immigrant, they should be deported.
I’m not from Chicago, nor would I be comfortable telling you where.
My father immigrated to the US in 2001, he did so legally. My great great grandmother and great great grandfather came to Canada from Scotland in 1905. I do not know if they took a citizenship test or anything since Canada was a colony. My mothers side of the family is eigth generation American, and I am one quarter American Indian.
The most humane thing to do would be deport them, but Chicago would rather pander to liberals as a sanctuary city than do anything to improve the city.
He wants to wait for election season so voters “remember it.” It’s a fairly common tactic in politics.
Feels like a slippery slope with the engaged vs convicted. What happens when Florida or Georgia says Hunter and Joe conspiref together and that counts as insurrection.
I have always felt like they needed to wait for an official ruling on the insurrection before he is taken off the ballot for it. Guilty before proven innocent.
There is in fact no generally agreed uppon definition of a city. Most people would call Boston a city, but it only has 675k people. Most people wouldn’t call Wells a city, but the British do. Most people would call London a city, but not the British. Generally, a city is a defined area with more density than surrounding areas over 100,000 people, and a significant other factor, be it cultural, administrative, or historical.
On your second point, the US has nine cities over the 1 million mark according to the 2020 census. New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego, and Dallas. Boston is number 25 with 675k. Omaha is number 40.
“You’re not a city until you hit 1m.” So what you’re saying is there are only 9 cities in the entire United States? I think you have your definitions wrong, or you live in New York / Los Angeles and have no clue what most of the US is like.
Currently in a city of ~330,000. Sitting comfortably and watching youtube.
Good riddance
I highly implore you reread my posts. To clarify again, people who currently cannot afford to live in San Fransisco should not live there. If that includes every Starbucks barista than so be it, but many make ends meet and live within their means. The extras, or leftovers, who cannot rent a place, and are not making enough to cover rent in the bay area, should move away to places where their wages go farther and they can afford.
https://www.vox.com/a/homeless-san-francisco-tech-boom Establishes the housing crisis for more than just the very poor, affects normal people with decent paying jobs.
https://www.sf.gov/information/sanctuary-city-ordinance Establishes the city as a sanctuary for illegal immigrants. Including not asking if people are citizens for city funds, benefits, and services.
While Americans toil and struggle to find housing in these areas, the city of San Fransisco would rather focus on improving the city for illegal immigrants over helping Americans. If San Fransisco wants to solve some of their issues they can start by repealing Sanctuary City laws and working with ICE to remove criminals from the US.
The City of San Fransisco is currently more worried about making space for illegal immigrants and homeless people more than improving the lives of taxpayers and upstanding citizens. Any govenment that has such housing epidemics that they must overegulate to even try and have a semblance of normalcy while also touting the area as a safe haven for illegals is corrupt.
And? People work these kinds of jobs and are fine for all their life, but because some don’t take care of themselves it vilifies the job as being hard on your knees and you’ll never be able to walk again.
Seems the other commenters fell for the propaganda hard. This kind of thing happens in America everyday, but now that it’s happening to someone the left loves to hate it makes every news channel.
America needs medical reform, not to dunk on a guy that defended himself.
