    this was gonna happen.

    most of the ‘conservative’ far-right congregations in the u.s. broke-off from umc over the last several years.

      Heh. I overheard a relative talking about a local Methodist church that is trying to break away. But apparently years ago they got some financial help from the UMC and signed over the land the church is on, so it’s some big mess. Serves the bigots right.

    They meet every 4 years. There was no 2020 meeting. The delegates for the 2019 meeting were hold-overs from the 2016 meeting. Those delegates got picked right after the 2012 meeting, meaning that this is the first group of general conference delegates that were chosen after gay marriage was legalized in the United States in 2015.
