The language they understand of “climate” is not “good measures”, but “I’m getting taxed and now I can’t pay my bills”. You need to speak in terms of fear, because that is what they are: afraid. Instead, say, interesting you vote for him, question, question more, push, but not too far… and then once you got them hooked, question them by fears.
