I dont want Newsom to be president either, but if he makes it past the primaries it’s sure as shit better than the alternative. Even if both sides have bad candidates, they are never equally bad - both sides are not the same here. And the current administration has proven that even if you leave the US, the shit storm spreads well outside our borders.
Vote for your ideals in the primaries, but don’t throw a temper tantrum when your candidate doesn’t make it past the post. That’s how we got to where we are today, and everyone in the world to some degree has to suffer through the incompetence.
It hasn’t happened yet, and so this sort of rhetoric is appropriate now. If Ledivin were talking about some House candidate in the current election cycle, I’d be with you, but he’s talking about the election two years from now and there’s still time to get rid of Newsom.
The dnc will rig the primaries to force a fascist neoliberal genocide supporting corporatist shitbag who won’t reverse project 2025, hold anyone accountable, put the Epstein pedophiles in prison, oppose the genocidal fundamentalist fascist colony of Israel or reverse the mass surveillance project.
Of course “if”… But they are literally replying to a post where the user says they will never vote for Newsom. That is the sentiment I see persisting too across left leaning spaces… Even if trump tears up the constitution and runs for a third term, the purity testers on the left would rather not vote and give the right a lower bar to maintain power. This sentiment is dangerous and in my opinion contributed to why Kamala lost, and poses a direct risk to the lives and rights of my kids. It needs to be called out.

In my hierarchy of preferences, I want a progressive, then a centrist democrat, then a Republican. This whole mentality of “progressive or stay home” is a cancer on the rights of the marginalized.
