I’ve got at least one album on my Jellyfin server that’s about two volume notches quieter than most of the other albums on my server so when I’m playing it back I turn it up, then the next song starts blaring and I have to turn it down again. Wondering if anyone knows of a good tutorial or anything for comparing the decibels of two songs and to bring them more in line with each other.

I would recommend adding ReplayGain metadata to your media files. It’s designed to address exactly this problem.

I don’t know what you normally use to tag and organise your music files, but a few of the popular programs support doing ReplayGain analysis and saving that to each file’s tags. This page describes how to do it using foobar2000 on Windows.

Finally, you’ll also need to make sure that whatever media player you’re using supports ReplayGain and has it enabled.

Thanks for the info, I saw ReplayGain in Symfonium, but it wasn’t doing anything (presumably cuz the tags don’t exist) looks like Picard has a plugin for adding ReplayGain tags so I’ll try playing around with that. Gonna be a task re-editing all my music, but well worth it I suspect.
