Residents are sending a clear message about the violent deportations taking place across the US this midterm cycle
Minnesota voters left “I Voted” stickers on memorial sites for Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good, the two US citizens killed by federal immigration officials earlier this year.
Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse at the Veterans Affairs medical center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Good, a writer and mother of three, were killed during a large-scale immigration enforcement operation in the Minneapolis region in January.
Donald Trump’s aggressive and violent mass deportation campaign has been a key issue for voters across the country during this midterm cycle, and has played a large part in Minnesota’s election.

“People like me”
Point to where I ever said any of that shit you just slopped at me… Then when you realize that I didn’t, and you’re just projecting at me to create a pallatable strawman to coddle your little insecurities, point that fucking finger up your ass.
Relax. I’m trying to have a serious conversation. If your “action” you meant in your original comment means only Voting for democrats, I only mean to warn you they aren’t much better on ICE/police policy.
Don’t condescend to me like I’m not watching what’s fucking going on after coming at these comments like some self-righteous arbiter of truth and morality. I will relax when I don’t have some asshole on lemmy griping about people who are actually out there using what power they have to try to influence future outcomes for the better in this increasingly despotic fascist regime. I fucking hope you’re out there phonebanking for progressive canditates and engaging with officials about how desperately we cannot allow status quo fuckery to block the action you claim to want now that there’s some power to affect it, cause if not you can continue to fuck all the way off, and frankly, even if you are you can goddamn well check yourself up in here.
I said relax dude. There’s no use being so angry. I’m way past phone banking lmfao. I mean organization in unions or at food banks. Yes we have to force the state to give us funding but again that goes beyond phone banking.
Instead of wasting time on harassing staffers with phone calls spend that time joining your local rent strike. Some asshole removed at you on Lemmy about the blue wave isn’t the problem you think it is, go out and actually hold them to it, not just a phone call.
You seem to be confused, I do not give a fuck what you said I should do, and I never asked for your wanrings or judgements or advice, so keep that shit to yourself, and let’s agree to go our separate ways.
I know it hurts to be told you aren’t doing enough, but you can handle it. It’s time to be an adult and fight before the situation for poor, disenfranchised people gets worse. Working within the establishment has gotten me nowhere, if you don’t care then you’re just another one of the millions who don’t. But I do.
Don’t kid yourself, you are not changing anyone’s life on here by condescending and asserting some kind of moral superiority, and your charade of self-aggrandizement is vile. I’m truly uninterested in your ‘insights’ or judegements and projections on my charcter. As far as I have seen you’re a naracissist who wants to police and gatekeep the community using civility as a shield, which is the playbook of conservatism, we have nothing else to talk about.
I have done nothing to attack your character, if you read our exchanges You are the one saying “fuck you” to me and telling me to “fuck off” and that “nobody cares about me or my praxis” before calling me a narcissist.
I mean not to attack your character only the premise of putting “I voted” on a grave of people killed by state violence.
If putting I voted stickers on the graves of these people makes you feel better, sure, go do it again, I find it disrespectful but it’s not a popular opinion in this thread, obviously.
I’m not changing anyone’s life on the internet. I’m advocating for changing your methods of action. I’m sorry but if all you do is vote, door knock and call your senators you aren’t doing enough. If you don’t wanna read it you don’t have to, but again you swore and insulted me, and I am trying to reach civility in my message.
Poor people, POC, unions, even protests holding both Dems and ESPECIALLY conservatives accountable all need your help and your support and your mind & body in the street. Don’t leave them in the dust now that this blue wave has hit. This is a real opportunity to derail the gigantic fascist movement and you’re worried about one person on the Internet and how I’m conducting myself.
Again if you’re so pissed you don’t have to respond, but expecting fascists to be civil is a bad mistake. Don’t put the ball in thier court! Do more! It’s doable I promise!
You didn’t have to respond if you’re just gonna be angry. If you tell others what to do then you expect a bit of pushback, that’s how a conversation works.
I can’t believe you actually suggested phone banking to me and then said “I don’t give a fuck about what you do.” I know you don’t. I can tell. I know you don’t care about labor unions or striking because if you did you’d realize I spent years phone banking and door knocking to no avail.
What got funding for my local food shelf wasn’t the dems or the state themselves, it was forcing bipartisan leaders thru a strike. If all we did was call them they would have continued to ignore us.
