There’s always openings in front line infantry!
Pro-fracking, pro having a fascist in their Cabinet, pro-war profiteering even during a genocide, and you call it the most left-leaning ticket in ages? I hate that I have to agree, but I don’t think it’s as strong of a point as you’d like it to be.
does fuck all for years and springs up when it’s convenient
Oh I didn’t know she was a Democrat.
One party is fully owned by the ultra-wealthy and will not do anything to even slightly weaken the oppression of the 99%, the other party is fully owned by the ultra-wealthy and will not do anything to even slightly weaken the oppression of the 99% and also lies about it.
If you go by their track records, neither. One is verbally less regressive, sometimes, but only in election years.
Calling Democrats the “most progressive party” is like calling a carpet bombing the “most peaceful action” because the alternative is a thermonuclear bomb.
What makes you think leftists are Dems (by choice)?
Politicians exist to get elected. How do you expect to hold their feet to the fire after you elect them? Give them four years to do a bunch of nothing then switch back to saying “now isn’t the time to ask for change, we have to defeat the Toupee 2.0!”?
I’ll save you some time and respond for you: “yOu MuSt WaNt ToUpEe To WiN!!1!”
Maybe, just maybe, a system that makes doing the right thing a losing move, isn’t a system that we should allow to continue to exist.
Many people still think it’s leftist! Not smart people, but they are technically people.
What’s the least disparaging way of saying “do it or no balls”?
In general I’m in full agreement, but the fact that Biden stepped aside and they picked Walz as the VP gives me the perception that the Democratic Party is at least acknowledging the existence of the left. They absolutely need to triple or even quadruple down on progressive policies while Harris is in office though*, or we’ll be in the exact same position in four years, except with a competent speaker for the GOP instead of the Toupee.
*And not just in the last few months before the next election.
I’m happy to see your Ctrl, C, and P buttons are in fine working condition. Do you have a valid argument though?
Biden didn’t step aside until she asked him too, so she’s at least done one good thing.
He may eventually prove wrong the old adage that no press is bad press.
What pressure is even possible after the election? There is only one legal way to put pressure on a politician, and that is with your vote. If you vote for them despite everything, simply because they’re the lesser evil, how do you expect to put pressure on them after? They’ll do what they always do, which is whatever the owner class tells them to do, up until a few months before the next election. Then it’s not about what they have or have not done in the past four years, it’s about defeating the Other Guy. Again.
For the record, I agree with you. There’s no good choice here. And I’ll be voting for Harris come November, though I don’t see it as a vote for Harris particularly, just a vote for the Democratic Party, to reward them for actually listening to the people their primary donors and getting Biden to step down.
I know it’s not working in this case, since it hasn’t happened yet.
He’s crazy to think the CIA is behind it. The CIA handles overseas assassinations; domestic ones are the FBI’s domain.
Throw the Toupee in prison. Make it an Presidential action to disallow felons to run for political office, since they legally cannot vote. Expand the Supreme Court and fast track term limits. Throw all of the GOP in prison; treason is a felony.
All the comments saying it’s a distraction from how the working class is being oppressed by the owner class are right, but also…
There have always been bigots, small town small minded people who don’t “know any gay people” but there was that one skinny boy in their class that didn’t like sports so he was bullied until he left town at 18. And now, that generation of bigots is finally dying out. Not only due to age but due to an increased connection with the greater world. A small town bigot might not know any LGBT people personally but they are aware of their existence, due to television and the Internet. So quietly ignoring people who are different than you doesn’t work anymore. And a dying animal fights harder than ever.
These death throes are useful to the owner class. But they are still dying out. And if we can exterminate capitalism and figure out a way to survive in a post-warmed globe, we might just see the end of (this particular type) of bigotry.
