So to use another analogy, I’d rather “tread water” (vote for the lesser of two evils) in this river of raw sewage we’re stuck in, rather than “drown” in it (let greater evil win by voting against the lesser evil).

At least while treading water, we can still try to find someone who is doing something to help out.

For fuck’s sake, I’m not “simping for Newsom,” I’m just aware that he’s better than trump. At least we can see the horizon with him.

Ok. So how do we “abandon the duopoly?” Honest question. If you have a viable suggestion, I am all for it. Because refusing to vote is what trump wants you to do.

Voting / politics is a chess game. Sometimes you have to plan ahead and work from behind and sacrifice some positions. Refusing to play the pieces you have (even from a losing position) is just letting the opponent win.

If there’s a better primary challenger than Newsom, a Progressive candidate, I’m all for them. I want them. I don’t want Newsom, but if it comes down to him or another trump clone, Newsom is good enough to at least keep us from societal collapse.

Refusing to vote for him because he’s not a perfect fit is just giving the enemy a win. See: all those who refused to vote for Harris and now we have trump.

There’s no viable 3rd party candidate. Probably never will be.

People like me feel like we’re surrounded by idiots, and the idiots are in charge, and it’s terrifying. Then the idiots (trumpers) tell us to leave if we don’t like it here, and yet why the fuck should we? They’re the ones ruining everything.

Anyway - yeah we do know these tariffs are a tax on us. Personally, I wouldn’t mind a tariff on some things - if the proceeds went to strengthen social programs to protect & help those affected by the loss of jobs to foreign manufacturers. But the trump regime is pocketing this tariff money and telling the common people to suck it up.
