Everyone (*) is capable of empathy. You decide not to have empathy for vulnerable individuals suffering actual atrocity three times a day when you decide to visit cruelty and violence on them on the way to your plate. When was the last time you shed a tear? Cuz it fucked me up pretty bad just this morning. Do you have no empathy? Of course you do. You just choose not to use it.
“Comment above” referring to our ancestor comment, not yours. That comment just strives to paint a starkly black and white image, because black and white certainty (even if it’s wrong) serves the emotional needs of the poster. It does not offer any practical value against the slide into autocracy. It only makes things worse. Everyone should keep their coping to themselves, cope privately, and not inflict it upon others. We need to conserve our common spaces for better forms of thought.
You don’t know a fucking thing about me. You just want to work yourself up into a pseudoreligious froth. Because that’s how you are coping with your fear and insecurity. But it’s fucked up and it doesn’t advance the goals you claim to care about. It’s childish and harmful to those around you. Grow the fuck up and do something KIND for the world, if you’re so fucking afraid of nazis, you coward (since we’re apparently calling names now).
I don’t disavow that potential. It’s a real potential. It’s a terrifyingly real potential. And shit like the comment above and the mentality it expresses certainly doesn’t make that potential better.
The question being answered was not, “What are the common practices for…?”
i wonder if you are aware that you are brainwashing yourself. it’s okay to cope, we all have to do it these days, but its best kept to yourself where it causes less secondary harm.
If you are a corporation staking thousands or millions of dollars on some code, you hire someone to audit it. If you are a dude playing with apps on your phone, you accept the risk of ingorance.

How would it? Just because they have an insane idea doesn’t mean A actually does lead to B.

You cannot fit “truth” in an entire broadsheet page, let alone a headline. That is why it is unavoidably poetic. I’m not making an analogy, headlines literally are poetry.
And to forestall your next objection, headlines ARE poetry. It’s a form of constrained writing with hundreds of years of poetic conventions and devices.
Imagine a world with no poetry. How horrid. Let stupid people be confused, they are perfectly used to it and have a faculty for it you cannot defeat.

Animals. We are fucking herbivores. Every herbivore has a basic capacity to consume meat because every herbivore is MADE OF MEAT. If their bodies could not perform catabolism, they would not be able to live. Your body literally digests itself when cells die. But we are not adapted to eat meat except for survival in times of famine. The more meat a human eats, the younger they die, and the more major diseases they experience. THAT’S A FUCKING HERBIVORE.
Not even to consider that the animals we eat are vulnerable individuals whose very creation was an act of abuse. It is wrong to create an intelligent creature and then force it into a situation where it is dependent upon you for its survival. It is wrong to force an intelligent creature to become pregnant and bear a child. It is wrong to take children from their parents for financial gain. It is wrong to murder vulnerable individuals who are not a threat and do not want to die. Every step is wrong, and not just a little bit, these are some of the worst things you can possibly do to another individual. And most people do it several times a day, without giving it any thought at all. It fucking destroys me.
